So I took FAR Saturday (which was my very first exam), and I’m feeling AWFUL about it. There was just so much it was hard to study all that material and feel prepared. Plus, when I got there, I was SOOO tired, it was hard to think. I’m sitting for AUD next month, I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on the most efficient way to study during the final review. Thanks!

I may be a bit different, but I found that pounding MC's and SIMS's during the final few days was counterproductive. I focused on the rigor of the materials first, taking notes, and understanding all the main focal points and topics during the first couple weeks of study. Then I practiced MC's for hours at night while reviewing notes during other available times (on planes, trains, automobiles, during lunch, before bed, etc.) for a couple of more weeks. I rarely did SIMS review, except for a few from Becker and Wiley. I found the actual SIMS to be so different in format from what I was studying, that the MC's were good enough to get me the full understanding of the materials. The final days before the exam, I would drop any problems, MC practice, etc. and just review my handwritten diagrams of the “big picture” of each section, my notes I took from the text readings (‘cliff notes') and also Wiley Focus Notes (an excellent little portable book of key concepts, main points, definitions, etc.). Hope this helps.

Why were you tired for your test? Did you stay up studying the night before?

I've always tried to relax the day before an exam. Reviewed a few flash cards/notes on points that I was having difficulty with, had a glass of wine, and relaxed.

If you're still tired, try drinking half of a 5-Hour Energy right before your exam. Of course, make sure you try this at another time just in case you have some kind of funky reaction to it. 🙂

We all need to do a better job of emphasizing the mental exhaustion that can occur while taking the exam. Did you go into it feeling confident about the material? I had myself psyched out for FAR before I even took it the first time. You have to tackle the material and go into it strong or the time and effort required to nail it won't be in your favor. You're right, there is an immense amount of material, but I'm here to tell you it is possible. And hey, you never know, maybe your score won't be as bad as you think. Every time I took a test I thought I failed.

    AUD - 82 Becker
    BEC - 75 Becker
    REG - 71, 82 Becker
    FAR - 66,61,71,74,70 and #6 80!!!! FINALLY DONE!!! 9/20/12

for me, i am just feeling really bad about FAR before i even take it! (my test is in 4 days). i am convinced its going to be the hardest one for me, and its hard to shake my negative attitude. i am studying my butt off and still can't get over 60-75% right in MC (even after doing them a 2nd time). i am going to re-do my ch 9 MC questions and look at all the sims again, then take the 2 becker practice test(s). i definitely have a couple weak areas i am going to study up on.. but… this sucks!
