Took FAR and REG….. and probably failed both. Fml.

Does anyone else struggle on the simulation portion and fail because of them?

For REG, I felt the multiple choice teslets went well and that I was passing leading into the simulations. With that being said, the simulations were another story. I literally ran out of time for the simulations and probably got like no points for the sim sections. Too many calculations and reading for only an hour to spare for both. I did both memos which were easy and didn’t get both the research questions.

For FAR, it was pretty similar. The first testlet was really easy, the second one was brutal, and the last was in-between. Again, I pretty much had no time for the sims with an hour remaining and left like 2 or 3 tabs blank because of it (AHHH)! I did both memos which went okay and I may have got both research questions.

All I know is that I feel like crap and hopeless about passing these exams. Anyone share to comment if they felt the same way and how their scores turned out? I really don’t know what to expect because these were my first CPA exams but I feel as if I failed miserably.

thankss….. ya simulations are the death of me. I don't think becker really prepared me well for the actual simulations on the exam. They are more calculations are journal entries.

i walked out of prometric feeling as if i had failed FAR hardcore (it was my first exam). i had a panic attack halfway through the second testlet and it threw me off my game completely. i couldn't tell if my testlets were getting harder or not because i felt they were all murdering me! my sims were impossible as well and although i managed to finish them both, i had absolutely no idea what i was doing. i was 110% certain that i would be retaking it…. i ended up with a 90! so trust me, all is not lost.

It is what it is and you will find out when the scores come out so try not to think about it in the mean time (yes, easier said than done!).

Focus on your next exam. Let the AICPA do its job. Your job was to answer questions. No one knows if they passed an exam. No one even knows how the AICPA grades an exam!

The CPA exams are a game, a very important game, but still a game. This is a game of endurance, not how smart you are.

There is a shortage of CPAs for a reason. The AICPA treats CPA candidates like weeds that the AICPA would like to pull. Getting all CPA candidates upset about their exams is just psychological warfare, in my opinion.

17% to 25% of CPA candidates quit. Do you blame them? If you take the attitude that you will never, never, never quit, YOU WILL BECOME A CPA!

I am a smart kid and didn't slack at all studying I went above and beyond I even watched all the becker lectures twice and I sat for that exam and just read jibber jabber on the screen. People said it would only take me about 2 hrs, but I only had 20 minutes left for both simulations hahaha I am totaly with you on the FML

The AICPA will do whatever it takes to rattle your cage. Expect the unexpected. They will ask the sickest question as the first question. They will give you off-the-wall simulations that are pre-test questions that do not count. If our professors did this in college, we would tar and feather those professors!

Answer 90% of the “easy” questions correctly and 25% of the impossible questions correctly, and you will pass the exam. Get focused on your next step in the process of studying for these exams, and do not allow the AICPA to rattle your cage during or after the exam. You will pass all of these exams and you will become a CPA IF you never quit!
