My review of my REG experience today:

First testlet.. handled it like a boss for sure…. second testlest… got handled like a boss, got my a$$ thrown against a wall and the person kicking it (AICPA) had me watch…. super beat up and tired, took me 45 min to do, most of the stuff I hadn’t ever seen, and the stuff I did see took me forever to try to answer…. third testlest was much much easier than the second, but harder than the first. dont know if it was harder because by this time i was mentally beat up or because it was just harder. I know I made some mistakes on it because I checked some things when I left but oh well, can’t do anything now.

Sims… first sim, aright aright… I can see what they want, did my best… second sim… WTF ARE YOU ASKING FOR!?!?!?! Absolutely had no clue… third sim research, figured my way around that one… fourth sim, handled… fifth sim, handled… sixth sim did all my stuff backwards like an idiot.

Overall I don’t know what to expect, but I know the mistakes I made last time were not made again this time… but I know other mistakes were made. Usually I can remember a lot of the questions after the exam, this time I feel like my mind has been wiped clean… don’t know if that’s a good thing or bad thing.

Taking tonight off, on to AUD tomorrow.

    BEC: Done

Sure sounds like a beating, but since the 3rd testlet felt harder, I'm hoping that meant that you did well on the first two – most likely better than you thought!

Hopefully you'll be reporting good news in a few weeks!

    FAR 88 (07/15/11)
    BEC 83 (08/31/11)
    AUD 81 (10/15/11)

All I can say is that I don't have a hard time with REG for the most part… they test on these ridiculous small details. I am just stupid because although I am familiar with almost everything they throw at me, I sometimes cant distinguish between small rules.

Know everything they tell you to know in the review material… LOL it sounds like stupid basic advice, but I guess that's the best thing I can say.

Sounds like you advanced to the difficult level in test – let 2, which is a positive since those are weighted higher. Seems like you passed. I failed REG and here's my story.

A guy was coughing non-stop for the 3 hours during my test. I couldn't wait to get out of there – my mind was focusing on that and was very frustrated. Actual test, I felt like I was guessing through most of the MCQs – no boss effect at all. SIMS – maybe 1 okay but like you, have absolutely no clue why or where they got those questions. Thought it was a joke.

All I can say is I ended up sick (probably exposed to something that guy had) and failed. LOL.

Anyways, your experience only reminded me of my Audit test experience, which I passed.

    AUD - Passed:)
    FAR - Passed:)
    REG - Retake TBD
BEC - Missed by 3 points Retake TBD

hey hopeful, glad you shared your experience, although I am even more nervous now… lol. Seems like I shouldn't even go over Becker sims again. sigh!

    @yvonne

Lol to your story… Unfortunately the result wasn't positive. I hope I passed… I'm a little nervous but for now I'm

Going to relax because my head is killing me and I still have this congestion from the flu.

The only problem is that testlet 3 wasn't nearly as difficult as testlet 2… Which means I didn't do well on it.

    @socal

Yea man, no reason practicing sims, don't know how much it will help.

@hopeful – Sounds like you gave yourself a fighting chance. Good luck come score release! I disagree about not practicing sims though. Sure, you are not likely to get the same sims on your exams. But a lot of the format, application, and problem solving processes are the same. Practicing the sims was definitely instrumental in getting me through the exams, especially FAR.

@hopeful, maybe I should go drink at downtown LA after working tomorrow, instead of studying lol! I'm really surprised to hear that the SIMS were awful, given that you seemed to know a lot. As for the testlets, I think it's a good sign too!

By the way, did you use Becker? If you did, did it do a good enough job? =) darn those ancillaries.

@mim, thanks for your input. I will do those sims tomorrow instead of drinking… lol

I think the testlet getting harder is a good indication that you were doing well in the prior testlet. Good job! It also sounds like your sims went better this time around. I passed FAR and BEC with the second testlet being brutal and the third testlet being much easier…so don't lose hope. I am hoping to hear some good news in early February!!! Good luck with Audit. I did the opposite of you, I am hoping to put down Audit (mid January) and then conquer REG.

    enjoy your night off!!

I'm not saying go drinking lol but if you want to do sims to practice format then yes I agree… But if you want to do sims to practice material I think that's a waste of time… Atleast for Reg and for when I took Aud also. Bec they helped and I haven't taken Far yet so I can't say.

Yankee, I hope so chicka, I'm getting tired of this. We got Aud around the same time so let's get this done please lol

Oh and I used Wiley and Rogers. The first time I passed it I used Becker but they are so boring I couldn't handle it another time around.

I took REG yesterday, and did not have the same experience that you had. I didnt feel that the testlets got harder, and I also feel like I knew the answer to the vast majority of the questions. I did over 2000 MCQ's over the 6 weeks that I studied so maybe that had something to do with it. When people ask I just tell them it was either a home run or a crash and burn. Only time will tell!

    REG- 81
    BEC- 72,76
    AUD- 67,88
    FAR- 78

    Done!

    Question regarding the SIMS

I am having some trouble finding the answers to IRC research questions. Not that it's hard, but the search function in Becker does not seem to do as good enough of a job compare to the ones in FAR. Typing in the “keywords” in the search function is critical, but does anyone else have any other tip? Does anyone use the “advance search” function?

Lastly, what is TS? The only research questions I've seen were relating to IRC. Thanks!

I agree with Minimorty. Definitely practice doing Sims. That was my biggest mistake last time. There's only so many ways they can ask a question, so if you practice doing a lot of Sims, you'll have a better idea of what to expect on exam day. Not practicing Sims will make you say “Huh?” when you take the exam. Sure, the Sims on the real exam are more difficult, but at least you'll have some idea of what they're asking. Having some idea is better than having no idea. Had I practiced doing more Sims before, I probably would kicked butt on my last attempt.
