To reschedule or not to reschedule? That is the question.

So I’m taking FAR this Saturday. I’ve only gotten through half of the material. Is it worth it for me to just take it? Or should I pay the rescheduling fee of $99.20 and have 4 more extra weeks to study?

If you think you have a chance, might as well give it a shot, if not reschedule for Oct 1st.

    FAR - 95
    AUD - 82
    REG - 94
    BEC - 84

Thanks for the response. I rescheduled. I really am NOT ready to take it this Saturday. I'd rather study well for 4 weeks than cram EVERYTHING in 3 days.

I am in a similar situation needtobecpa.

I have passed AUD, REG, BEC….. I am scheduled to sit for FAR on 8/31. Currently I am only in Chapter 4 of FAR in Becker. Unfortunately for me, my NTS expires on 9/24 so 8/31 is the latest possible day I can sit for the exam. I applied for all 4 sections for my first NTS. I have passed 3 of the 4 (exceeding my initial goal) but I am very underprepared for FAR. I will either get lucky and squeeze by with a 75 or I will sit, fail, and have to pony up $220 more to sit in October/November. I am expecting to watch FAR 4-7 lectures and work all MCQ (excluding supplemental), skim FAR 8-9 text, and work progress tests for FAR 8-9. I am hoping this will give me a shot.

Does your NTS expire prior to the October/November testing window?

Would you be able to cover much of the remaining material between now and Saturday? If you really push it I think you could at least get the gist of 1 chapter a day.

    I see it like this:

    – If you have to pay $100 to Prometric to reschedule and $220 to sit for far again you would essentially be saving $120 if you push it back to October (given that you would pass in October and fail on Saturday).

    – If you push through whatever material you can and sit for the exam on Saturday and you happen to pass, you will be out $0 and you will be done with this studying sh*t.

    – If you sit on Saturday and fail, you pay $220 to retake the exam.

    REG: 5/26 - 90hrs (Pass) AUD: 7/1 - 86hrs (Pass)
    BEC: 7/22 - 72hrs (Pass) FAR: 8/31 - 56hrs (Wait)

In your case, I would take the test as there is no way to reschedule to the 4th Qtr. There is quite a bit of time left to study if you put most of your free time toward the exam.

    FAR - 95
    AUD - 82
    REG - 94
    BEC - 84

I say reschedule! If you know you're not ready (and from hearing where you are I don't think you are either) than I think taking it would be just be detrimental to your self esteem. I reschedule twice (yeah… I paid the $99 fee TWICE) and I'm so happy I did. When I went in there I felt “okay” about it. Going in there feeling like you're not at all ready will just doom you cause you'll be so nervous!

    But that's just my $.02 đŸ˜€

    FAR-91 (7/29)
    AUD-99 (8/23)
    BEC-90 (10/1)
    REG-99 (11/3)

p.s. though I've also heard from some people that if they are pretty sure they are gonna fail because they are barely prepared, they actually go in there with a “whatever” attitude and are super relaxed cause they figure they'll have to retake it anyway. The person I”m referring to here actually passed! So… I don't know. If it were ME I'd reschedule…

    FAR-91 (7/29)
    AUD-99 (8/23)
    BEC-90 (10/1)
    REG-99 (11/3)

@ needtobecpa – I think you made the right decision. I am not usually a proponent of rescheduling bc most people do it bc they are nervous. But you have not completed all the work, so you might as well pay the reschedule fee instead of paying for the entire exam again.

@ Idrathergolf – You should probably try and wing it and see what happens. If you reschedule you'll have to pay for a new NTS anyway, and the reschedule fee, so they only thing you are losing is 4 hours of your day.

    REG 79 (Becker); BEC 63 (Becker) 70 (Yaeger); AUD 66 (Becker; 11/30 - Becker); FAR 11/24 (Yaeger/Wiley)
