Hi everyone. Did anyone just studied for FAR with the 10 point combo with no other materials (Becker, Roger, etc)? Was it helpful and did you pass? And what was your method of studying with the combo? Tips much appreciated!

I used the 10 point combo for REG and I got my first pass. Full Disclosure – I did pretend to watch the videos on CPAexcel but I didn't pay attention

With that said, I came damn close with BEC in April (started memorizing answers and I suck at test taking) and I bet will be damn close with AUD (took yesterday).

What are your hesitations?

no hesitations, i do plan on using the combo as my main study tool for my cpa exams.

I want to see if people only use the combo as their main source os study tool to pass the exams, particularly for FAR. I want to start studying this month and take the exam end of July.

I passed FAR with nothing but the Ninja test banks. I pounded MCQs and Sims for a few hours a day every day for like two months, plus a few eight hour days on weekends etc. I didn't really read the ninja notes or anything else. When I got questions wrong I would read the explanation, google stuff, take notes and paste them on my office wall to reference, etc.

The ONLY other supplementary material I used was Roger's audio books. I went on a long car trip (like twenty hours in the car total) and listened to it on the highway. I didn't really learn anything new from them but it did help to solidify the things I already knew.

@confusedcandidate – Did you pass other sections with only Ninja Test Banks as well? Just curious.

@golfball – I am not a very good study person…I think what worked for me in college was doing problems and having examples explaining the concepts

I used only Ninja for FAR, and I did the same as confusedcandidate. I hammered away at MCQs and SIMs. I also listened to the audio in the car on my way to/from work. I had the notes printed out at work, and would occasionally page through them, but didn't really use them much. I have a similar learning style, and I liked that the MCQs have an explanation that goes with them. For questions I was having trouble with, I would print the explanations and review it later.

ajones19 and I had an identical study experience. I have only passed FAR though with this method so I can't say whether it worked for any other sections. I'm 1/1 with it though, only sat for far and passed on my first try. I have a feeling it won't work as well with, say, audit or reg. I'm studying for reg now using roger's cram review, ninja notes, test banks, etc. Will let you know on July 3 how it went 🙂
