    Happy Monday,

I just finished reading FAR textbook..phew~ My exam is on March 10th. I am thinking to rewrite my notes by GAAP, IFRS, governmental/NFT, and business consolidation. And will use the blueprint as my guideline for specific areas. I am wondering how many mcq and sims did you do so you feel comfortable to seat for the exam. Do you use AL while doing DRS and TBS questions? Any tips on how do you prepare and review FAR would be really appreciated.

    Thank you!!!

I would say jump into MCQ, and see where you fall out in your weak areas. I don't think there is a set number of SIMS and MCQs, I recommend doing all of MCQs, then redoing them again, and I would do as many SIMS as possible, but do those toward the end. Make sure for every area you know your journal entries. Which review course are you using?

I am using Roger. Did you finish all of the MCQ on your study material? Best luck on your FAR.

I finished them all, and then re did at least 50% of them. Re-took FAR today. We will see what happens on March 8th. But don't discount SIMS if Roger has them. I think those are very helpful in solidifying the knowledge. I also re-wrote my notes in very succinct blocks in my own words with journal entries on each topic. Figured if I can explain it in my own words I feel like I know it.

Congratulation!!!! you made it. Best wishes, you will pass! I am kind of worried if I have enough time to prepare for the exam. I only got 30 days and I feel I kind of already forgotten half of the material. I guess I will try to do as much as practice as I can. 30days, 1672 mcq and 126 tbs.

I did about 2400 MCQs, all of Roger's and then another 600 in Gleim.
The Roger SIMs are good for experience, but as most have said, the actual SIMs are just out of this world.
Timing is the key and proficiency on answering MCQs fast and correct is crucial to giving you enough time to process the voluminous SIMs.

I did 45 min/1 hour on MCQs, forget how the 3rd and 4th went, but I had only 30 minutes for the last testlet and one SIM was almost completely blank, and I highly doubt it was pre-test as it was pretty standard stuff.

Be sure to do both the 2017 and 2018 FAR practice exam, as they have different questions. I think the 2018 practice has an additional SIM that you won't see in the 2017 version.

Using Wiley here, exam's in less than 2 weeks!

Just pounding through multiple choice questions right now and trying to figure out why I miss questions. I must've have done around about 1000-1200 questions already, hopefully going to go through some more later. Don't worry about forgetting older stuff, it's really common for that to happen. FAR is so overwhelming with the amount of information on it! Especially with all the little details that can trip you up if you're not careful. Personally I've been doing like 10-20 question quizzes from older material from the supplemental test bank to refresh my memory on older topics.

For the TBS, I haven't gone through that many actually. Just mainly have used it to reinforce certain areas I'm weaker on (leases, equity, deferred taxes) and also familiarizing myself with the formatting, especially the DRS and Authoritative Literature stuff. I got a lot of feedback from people that have taken the CPA already and they say the TBS can be all over the place so I'm focusing more on getting the knowledge down.

    Good luck!

Great call @reckedracing. I will definitely do both 2017 and 2018 sample test. THANK YOU!!

For SIMS, should I buy NINJA or Gleim test bank to get the best practice out of it? I want to practice as much SIMs as possible. But not sure which study material is the best. Becker doesn't sell their test bank to non-becker student, so that is off the list.

Have fun studying everyone!!! we will pass

@mccpa you finished the Roger book or the NINJA book? What was your take on Roger's vids?

If you did finish the Roger book, perhaps you can help me here a bit.

    Thanks and good luck!

@Boruch, I finished Roger book and I listened 93% of his FAR videos. I love his video!! But for me, I feel it covers a lot of information in 10-20min, so I have to re-read the textbook in detail after each chapters. I try not to pause his video and I have my textbook open as he goes on video. As his video goes, I make notes on textbook, so when I re-read the book, I know what to focus. His FAR video goes really fast for me, so reading the textbook really helps me to understand concepts and examples. Overall, I love studying with Roger. I am reviewing all of my notes right now and am going to use the Smartpath soon.

    Good luck:)
