Currently studying for FAR with Becker, and noticed that in the calculation-heavy sections, I take average 2.5-3 minutes for each question. Obviously this will not serve me well on exam day considering Becker recommends spending 50-55 minutes per testlet.

Is anyone else experiencing this same time management problem? Any advice on how to improve?

On the exam your going to find that you have a mix between theory and calculations. Some problems will take less than 2 minutes some more. Just allocate your time each question and keep a running clock in your head. And i suggest you give yourself an hour and a half for sims.

Yes, 1.5 hours for the Sims or more if you can. I tried to give myself 40-45 per MC testlet and that worked pretty good. Just remember not to get too stuck on a few MCQ because they aren't worth wasting precious time on, just move on if you can't get it…

    FAR: 78 - May 2011

    I am finally DONE!

One suggestion would be to read the question first (last line of the problem) just so you know what information you're looking for. A lot of the times they give you extra information just to confuse you, so once you know what the question is, just pick out the data you need and ignore the extra info.

If you find yourself taking longer on certain questions, it might be an indication that you don't know the topic as well as you should in which case you might want to focus your review on those topics.
