Thoughts on the CPA Exam Game - Page 2

A 74 on my AUD exam means that I am within spitting distance. My computer jammed for 10 minutes on that exam and I did not get to do the last research question correctly. I already knew going into the exam that it would be close. I made a 74 on my practice exam with Gleim.

I think that I passed this last exam, even if I had only 8 days to study. Besides the Yaeger Cram, I also did all of the Wiley questions from the Yaeger Home Study, and I did 100% of the Wiley questions on evidence.

What is actually worse than making a 74 is retaking an exam that you already passed. That will happen to me if I did not pass this last AUD exam.

I really feel for all of the CPA candidates who are in the position of retaking exams that they already passed. No one who has passed all 4 CPA exams on the first try can really understand how these CPA Candidates feel. It is really great to have Jeff as the owner of this website because he knows the feeling!

I really have to take my hat off to the AICPA. They really have designed this CPA game to make you discouraged so that you will quit. 17% to 25% of the CPA candidates actually do quit. I think of the AICPA as a gardener that wants to pull all of us weeds (CPA candidates).

I do not think that there is anything that the AICPA does that is by chance. Even a long 4 to 7 week wait for my scores, which is ridiculous in this computer age, may be designed for two purposes. First, the AICPA gets to play with the scores. Second, we CPA candidates tend to worry, become unmotivated to study, and waste time while that 18 month clock keeps ticking.

The CPA exams are just a game. However, they are a very important game. What these exams have taught me is how to play the game. It has been a long three years and hopefully I am finished playing the game. I have learned my lessons on playing the game very well!

Also, I'm curious what you mean by you're taking the CPA exam for “personal reasons”? Normally, I wouldn't ask about “personal reasons”, but come on, it's the CPA exam. It can't get that personal, can it?

Actually I'm going to withdraw my idea. I just remembered the 18 month rule which I hadn't thought about before. It serves the exact same purpose as what I was talking about in the first place [so attack me all you want but the AICPA has the same idea as well]. In fact, when you look at people retaking tests, a lot have to retake tests because previous scores have expired. I guarantee the reason why the AICPA chose the 18 month rule instead of the “only a limited # of retakes” rule is because of $$. They want to make AS MUCH MONEY AS possible from retakes. My idea would drastically cut down on that.

Last time I tried to explain it, almost everybody on this forum thought I was a stuck up douchebag and my thread got deleted. Which is the usual bandwagon ignorant effect that states that people who can't relate, won't tolerate.

Let's just say, I hate accounting. I just took an oath growing up that I would become a CPA, and the certification is going to go above the fireplace in my parents house. I turned 22 a few months ago, my other goals in life can wait a few months.

My bad on sounding aggressive in my earlier response, just struck a chord. Best wishes to you and goodluck.

Edit: And yes, precisely. The big boys sitting at the AICPA round table only have one goal: ”maximize profits”. They don't care about you, or me, or the pass rate, or whether or not anyone on this forum gets a job.

ENOUGH! This hit too close to home. You do realize that you are posting this crap on ANOTHER71.COM? This isn't “I'm_better_than_you_because_I_passed_all_four_on_the_first_try_but_I'm_a_jerk_and_framed_my_scores.com”. We all pass the same test, eventually. Some people are sprinters and others are marathoners. I've said that before and I'll say it again, if necessary. My honest opinion is that someone who has had to take a section more than once, twice or fifteen times is no less of an CPA than someone who passes all four on the first attempt. The only number that counts is the license number. Scores don't mean crap once you pass all four tests. Would you say that a woman who finally has a child after multiple miscarriages is less of a mother because she had too many “attempts” before she finally achieved her goal? I've had four of those myself. I'm no less of a mother than my sisters and friends who just popped them out. Sometimes you have to work harder than you ever thought you could for something that you want more than anything else in the world. Sometimes you have to fall so far down you can't see daylight to understand just how bad you want it. This is a forum for candidates who are struggling to get support and help. It's not a place for a bunch of holier than thou crap. If you feel like that, then fine, you are entitled to your opinion but don't throw it in my face. I'm sick of that! So ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! And for the record, I didn't take the lid off the box, this crap blew the freaking top off. I'm not the ragin' cajun right now, I'm a pissed off coonass!

Sorry for insulting you! That really wasn't my purpose. Also, sorry to hear about your miscarriages, but I think that is a really unfair comparison. But, regardless, arguing will clearly get us nowhere. Good luck on the rest of your exams. I really hope you pass!
