I’m hoping if you can give me some feedback about how you felt walking out of the exam and the score you received. I won’t get my score back until May since I have provisional status in IL. Just trying to get an idea of where I’m at. Felt very prepared going in, felt miserable going out

MC I felt fine about. I’m fairly certain my testlets went medium, hard, hard. The sims were what really threw me off and what I’m hoping you can give me some feedback on. Nailed the research, felt good about one, iffy on two, bad about one, and had no clue on the last one.

So, without further adieu, how’d it go for everyone? Scores vs how you felt?

PS, congrats to all those getting passing scores back today!

akh – I felt pretty confident about the MCQ's. I didn't really feel my testlets getting harder, although I did have a few more questions in 2 & 3 that I was unsure of. But all in all, I felt pretty good. When I first looked at the sims I freaked out. I had to calm myself down and take a deep breath and just start working through them. My research question was a giant pain and it took me forever to find the answer. Once I did find it, though, I knew I had nailed it. There were 2 sims I was 60-70% confident and the other 2 I was pretty nervous about. After the test I looked up my answers and felt a little better about the sims but also found things I got wrong. I felt like I scored anywhere between 70 and 85. I ended up with a 90 so I obviously did better on the sims than I initially gave myself credit for. Good luck and sorry for the wait!

I felt horrible after the test…defeated…beaten up….and mad at the stupid MCQs I should have known. I nailed the research question and felt comfortable with two other SIMS. After that, it was all guessing. I ended up passing with a 78 when I was expecting a 65.

    B 79
    A 75
    R 78
    F 85

I felt that my mcqs so I thought I was screwed. I felt defeated before I even got to the SIMS but I took a deep breathe and trudged ahead. I left 1 hr and 45 minutes for the SIMS so I took my time and felt like I got very manageable SIMS. There was only one that I felt that I wasn't prepared for even with the ability to look at the code. When I walked out, I felt that I did pretty good if not great on the SIMS and was totally distraught over the mcqs because they didn't get harder. SO I was hoping for a 75 because mcqs are 60% and SIMS only 40% but then my results came out and I got an 87, WTH. I thought I would have either a 70 or 78. Neither would have suprised me.

    AUD 84 (AUG-11)
    BEC 81 (OCT-11)
    REG 87 (FEB-12)
    FAR 81 (MAY-12)

I went in feeling prepared but unsure of what to expect because it was my first CPA exam. I left feeling that I did not do well. I wasn't even sure how the difficulty of the MC went for each testlet as I felt like each testlet started with a couple easy questions and quickly progressed into impossible. The SIMS weren't unfamiliar, but I felt like I only knew 90% of what I needed and felt like that wouldn't be enough to get me correct answers, which was scary. I knew I got my research question correct, which was something nice to hang my hat on, but “defeated…beaten up” is a fair description. I felt like I was prepared to do better and didn't see enough of the areas I was strongest in, etc.

That's how I felt walking out. As the time went on waiting for my score I started to feel better about my chances of doing alright because everyone I talked to felt just as beat up by it. I tried to focus on the facts that it is possible that the questions I struggled with most aren't even graded and that just because I guessed on a problem doesn't mean I got it wrong!

And then I get an 86. In my opinion, an 86 is something to rejoice over, and I felt lousy about my chances of passing when I left the testing center.

    REG - 86
    AUD - 87
    BEC - 93
    FAR - 86

Thanks for the replies everyone, and congrats on passing!! It sounds like everyone struggles to some extent with the sims like I did, so that is encouraging. Best of luck to you everyone moving forward, and a big congrats to jjm1181, you're done!

I felt like Testlet 1 was easy and then I got my socks knocked off by #2. Testlet 3 was much easier so I was feeling pretty down about that. At first glance the SIMS scared me. But, as I worked through them I felt decent about 4 of them. The 5th I knew I butchered. The last was my research question. Try as I might, I couldn't find the stinkin' answer even though in retrospect it wasn't a hard question. I am just not good at using the search engine within the IRC I guess. Anyhow, I found the answer finally with 15 seconds to spare till my time ran out!! Can't say I walked out feeling very good. But, I passed and now I'm DONE!

One thing I learned from these exams, is you can't really judge by how you feel. They aren't designed to make you feel good about your performance. Crazy as it is, the test I left feeling the best about actually ended up being my lowest score. Go figure!

I felt like my MCQ testlets got EASIER (even though thats not theoretically possible). I definitely had to give an educated guess on several of them. I felt stumped in two out of the six simulations. One of them was completely out of scope! I know I got the research sim correct. I felt defeated after the test. I was sure I failed. Today I got my score and it's an 86! Not sure how that happened but I guess all my hard studying paid off!

    Good luck!

    I use Becker btw.

    REG - 2/28/2012 - Passed! 86
    BEC - 4/29/2012 - Passed! 82
    FAR - AFTER AUD
    AUD - JULY 2012
