i am taking my last part (far) wednesday morning. I need to pass before the end of january or i lose audit. I failed far with a 70 in late november. i used becker got 63% of the home work correct and didnt practice any sims, completely skipped ch. 10 and a few smaller topics throughout the the other sections. i completely cleared out my progress for becker and watched 100% of the videos and completed 93% of the hw (obv not on my first try). In addition, i purchased wiley, and am very happy i did so. ive been doing those questions for the last week or so. did about 300+ mc (78%) and all of the sims (minus most of the research) scored about 82% on those. I usually put a lot of pressure on myself and have a tough time sleeping about a week leading up to the exam.. today i didnt do much and i dont plan on doing much tomorrow, im starting to hit a wall and feel like at this point Ive been through everything and rest/ a clear head is my best bet at this point. If i actually studied ch10 for my last exam i wouldve passed.

I know they say you need 75 points to pass (not only making up the 5 i failed by last time), but you would have to think my effort this time around should be enough to pass right? I am so ready for this to be over.

Good luck to you on Wednesday. Sounds like you're due to pass this time around with the way you described your preparation. And thank you for sharing with us your the importance of F10.

How did you do with your 2 practice final tests? I noticed you did not mention about Becker's FAR final review. Did you not get it?

hey amordiva, thank you for your encouragement. Ch.10 is def important. when i pass i plan on posting about my entire cpa experience, mistakes and all, so hopefully others can learn from my mistakes. i feel that it is important to get through all the material and mc, then do the mc you got wrong again. the last 2 weeks are extremely important to go through everything so its fresh in your head. I think it is also important to work on the topics you dont want to, since those are probably the ones you struggle with the most. ive never taken the final exams as i cant mess with my confidence in any way. i.e. if i am doing say a set of 10 mc and i get one wrong i will harp on that as opposed to using it as a learning experience, cant help it just that way i am. as for the final review, ive never used that for any section either. so i cant help you there.

failure if the opportunity to begin again more intelligently.

So you think trying the practice final tests will not help at all?

they would have to be beneficial or becker wouldnt include them. i've just never 1. had enough time to complete them and 2. had the guts to take a stab at them, since if i got a bad score it would kill my confidence a few days before exam day. I think they are helpful for those trying to simulate a real exam, maybe for those who have never taken one before? i just think i could use those 4 hours in a better way like brushing up on my weaker topics. again, its different for everyone.. i had a buddy at work that would do a few hundred mc a night, i cant really even get through 100 mc in a FULL day of studying unless its something easy like gov't.

Practice tests are a waste of valuable time. 🙂

I've read the survival guide a few times. Every time I do I feel two emotions.

    1. I need to make sure my wife knows that she's #1. I know she knows that I study/work myself to the bone for her and our future child's well-being (she's pregnant), but I need to make sure I spend 30 minutes a day talking about her day, not about my work and studying.

    2. I get angry at the test. I want to beat it because it's stealing my nights, weekends, lunch breaks, etc!

The only good thing about taking this exam, besides getting the license, is that after you take all four parts, you don’t feel smarter than anyone else anymore and you tend to have more respect for others. This exam makes you humble. The word smart was erased from my vocabulary the last time I took this exam. I passed 2 parts in 7 months, and failed Audit with a 74 after studying for 3 month. I spent 10 months studying like crazy for almost nothing. I guess the only ones who will not experience this feeling are those who passed all 4 parts in 4 months. According to my ex-boss, he did it in 4 weeks, so I guess that is why he continues to be an A$$hole with everyone else.
