Okay, so I am planning on taking FAR in just over 3 weeks from now. I have been using CPAexcel and have been watching the lectures and doing MCQs (and have been slacking on the CPAexcel MCQs). I have also been using Wiley Test Bank and have consistently gotten 40-50%. Any advice on what I should do/change for the final stretch?

Keep at the MCQ. Make sure you are understanding the answers on the questions you guess at or get wrong.

I am using CPAExcel as well for FAR. I am taking the exam on April 2. Have you done the complete exam in CPAExcel? That was a confidence booster for me, as I got a 70% about a month ago.

I have noticed now that I am forgetting stuff. I have doing bad with MCQs in study mode. I hate numbers!!! lol…

    Good luck!

I have CPAExcel and have studied the whole FAR section, however, I recently have picked up Becker (firm paid) and will be taking the fastpass course in the summer. I will essentially be doing FAR study all over with Becker (but it will be only two weeks as it is extremely condensed).

My friend was in the same position as you (has CPAExcel) and only had two weeks to study, this is what she did:

    1. Write out the PowerPoint slides (this helped her the most).

    2. Do as much multiple choice as possible.

    3. Simulated exams do NOT help as much, you are better off knowing if you got an answer wrong immediately, as well as why.

    4. Write.Out.Those.PowerPoints.

The lectures basically refer to the PowerPoint if you have noticed. Just cut the middle man.

    Hope this helps.

BTW she passed with an 81. Keep in mind we both are in the same MAcc program (still in school).

Rewrite all of your notes starting from the beginning. As you finish a section of notes. Work 30-50 MCQ on that section. Write out all of the answers to things you miss or guess at. Keep working additional MCQ on that section until you are passing at 80%, then move on to the next section. Does CPAExcel have lectures? If you are struggling with specific topics, watch those lectures again or reread the material in your text.

Don't slack off. You only have like 21 days and an awful lot of material for FAR. 40-50% on Wiley shows you aren't quite ready. You can do this, but you need to be completely dedicated.

Keep working the MCQ! I was scoring 70 at the end of studying on each 20-30 set.

Here is what I did I read NINJA/listened ever chance I got. I did MCQ in 20-30 sets I would do one topic I was bad at and one that I was good at and do 20/30 I had gotten wrong more than 1 or 2 times depending on how many times i worked the topic. Then I would do a random 20, then back to a weak area. concentrate on each question make sure you read it, I found that I would read half think I knew the answer guess it and be wrong. Be patience I also use the book, I look up answers I try not to but if I have NO idea I look it up and open book test it helps me learn.

Good luck! You can do this

    A - 61, 91!!
    B - 78!
    F - 76!!!
    R - 71, 73, 74, 69, 77!!!!

    Finally done!

This is my 2nd attempt at the exam, I had two parts passed (failed many) and I stupidly quit, big mistake. Now I'm back and with a vengeance!

I'm using CPA Excel as well and this is what works for me:

    1. I stopped watching the lectures because they just go through the power point slides anyway. I only watch them if I don't understand what they are doing in the slides.

    2. Go through each lesson, write down all the PP slides.

    3. Go through the MCQ's, if I don't pass, go through using the Study mode to understand why and review the study text.

    4. Once I'm through all the lessons, break out the NINJA notes. Re-copy the NINJA notes & work MCQ's till I'm blue in the face. If I'm still slacking on a subject, compare study text to NINJA.

I didn't use the NINJA notes for REG or BEC, I just re-copied my own notes, which was ridiculously time consuming as the PP slides present A LOT of information. I used NINJA for Audit (which I HATE) and ended up understanding the material so much that I thought I must have been tricked during the exam. But I wasn't…it worked!!

I'm taking FAR on 4/6 and am 50% through the material right now. I have a long way to go but am plugging along…

Thanks for the advice. And @Jaimcpa and @CrockPot78, for what you guys are saying, should I start back from the beginning? (cause since I only have 3 weeks left)
