The value of days off

What do you guys think about the value of having a day off during the week where you don’t look at your book or study materials?

Becker seems to contradict itself in this regard–the pre-made schedule clearly indicates Fridays as a day off, yet the instructors on the lecture DVDs always spout the stereotypical “no time off for you!” speeches.

I’m finding that my one given day off is a savior to my sanity. I’m at F5 right now and after spending 6-8+ hours a day on this material and often getting extremely frustrated when I still blow the homework the first time through, I need to get away at some point or my foot and the monitor will get awfully friendly.

I would necessarily call it a “day-off.” But I would keep a hobby that keeps you sane. I don't think there went one day where I didn't at least do something related the my exam. It may have been just an hour of reading or MCQ, but was at least something. I did keep a hobby of playing in a soccer league on the weekends. This was a good stress reliever and break for a week's studying.

Some people are rejuvenated by a day off while others have trouble getting back on track. It sounds like it helps you, so I wouldn't worry about taking a day off as long as you don't get behind in your study schedule.

I don't give myself any day off. However, on Sunday, I try very hard to get all my studying done by the afternoon, so in the evening, I can rest. That's pretty much the only time off I get. I tried giving myself a day off before and it wasn't working out. I get too spoiled. So, I study 3-4 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What's a day off? I've been studying non-stop for AUD 3-4 hrs a day weekdays, close to 8 on weekends. I'm starting to feel burned though. I'm thinking a 3/4 day off this weekend (while wiley test bank is unavailable) would help my brain.

Some people are going to enjoy this long weekend, but me, I'm using my long weekend to study extra hours. I'm going to pass REG in August even if it kills me.

ugh, I've been studying non stop for the last 4 weeks for FAR. 4 hours on Weekdays and 6-8 on weekends. I have some friends coming from out of town and they have told me that I am going with them to the Astros game on Saturday evening lol. I would like to get some study time in on Saturday so I'll probably put in a few hours before the game and then jump back on track Sunday.

It depends on the person. Everyone has different ways of keeping their sanity. I get in 2-3 hours a day Monday through Thursday. Fridays I usually don't study for sake of sanity. Then I always let myself sleep in and study 6 hours or so on Saturday and Sunday. So I get about 20-25 hours a week. It works for me.

I have been studying FAR and haven't taken a day off in 34 days, studying 4-5 hours a day. Personally, I feel like a slacker if I take a day off so i just don't do it. I consider my time off as the time before and after I study. So if I start studying at four my time off has been from the time I woke up to the time I started studying.

If i take a day off the only thing I'm thinking is “great now I'm behind on my study plan, how will i have to make this up,” and then my day off turns into me worrying and getting nervous.
