REG was pretty difficult for me but i’ve always been weak in taxes. I also felt like REG asked for alot of the nitty gritty..especially in their sims and ive read alot on here by ppl saying not to focus too much on the small stuff for FAR and get the big picture and also that FAR has the highest “curve”.

I havent tried FAR yet but it is my last one and im wondering if i should be freakin out that i left it for last! any opinions?

    @Dreambig

I think there has been a shift in general on this. When I first started this journey in late 2010, FAR was the beast. But with the advent of the new testing format, it seems like alot of people say REG is the “new” beast. I think the passing rates show that as well. Overall, you will probably get different answers from everyone. So, keep in mind that each exam is different for everyone. For me, my beast was Audit.

If you passed 3 exams, you can pass FAR!! Good luck.

FAR has more material, but I think REG has the most detailed questions.

I thought FAR was the beast, then AUD….

BEC for me was the easiest.

But as I'm taking the practice tests for REG I'm seeing how REG can easily be a beast as well.

    SLAY THE BEASTS! 🙂

I think REG is the true beast, at least for me but part of what made it so hard for me is that it was my last section and I was already (unwillingly) mentally checking out.

    FAR 88 (07/15/11)
    BEC 83 (08/31/11)
    AUD 81 (10/15/11)
    REG 83 (11/26/11)

I scored higher on FAR but it was the hardest of the 4 for me. It was the volume of study material that did me in. Also, of the 4 exams it was the only one where I wanted to bang my head on the computer screen at prometric. It was horrible.

REG is the hardest, FAR is not too bad, but not easy too as you know 🙂

I have FAR 2 weeks from today. It has been a huge beast to master. I just finished doing a round of Wiley questions (which I have not done before) on bonds and I'm scared. I got every single question correct..lol…God help me!!!

BOTH! I used both Becker and Wiely, and for FAR, they covered too many materials, for REG, too many were not covered.

    FAR 11/08/2011 90
    BEC 11/29/2011 85
    REG 01/03/2012 91
    AUD 02/03/2012 86
    DONE!

Has REG changed a bunch from the old format? I passed REG in July 2010 and it was the only exam I passed on the 1st try. Originally I thought FAR and REG would be the most difficult for me but apparently I was wrong about REG. Reading these posts is really making me nervous for if I lose credit for REG! It sounds much more difficult than wayyyyy back when I passed it! eeek!

    AUD - 73, 82 7/2010
    REG - 79 7/2010
    BEC - 72, 74, 78 7/2011
    FAR - 66, 83 1/2012 - AND I'M DONE! Best feeling ever.

Hmmm.. Well even though I don't have my score yet, I think I did better with REG than with FAR, but I still have to retake both…

Trying to decide which one to conquer first…Seems like the majority is voting REG as the hardest, so maybe I'll try to do it next then leave FAR for the end…

    B - 79 PASSED (1/4 there!)
    A - 77 PASSED (1/2 there!)
    F - 79 PASSED (3/4 there!)
    R - 83 PASSED (DONE!!!!!!)

I took FAR as my first test, before the new testing format, and it was very difficult for me… But I'm not sure it was as difficult as REG. I took REG as my last test under the new testing format and it was a nightmare!

I think that FAR might be more difficult for people who don't have a good grasp on basic accounting principals. I enjoyed learning about premiums/discounts on security transactions (I actually use that a LOT in my current job – I wrote and am passing the entries for a few today actually). REG was more difficult for me because it had so much law in it… I really hated learning contract law.

    FAR: 71, 77
    BEC: 70, 82
    AUD: 62, 78
    REG: 71, 68, 85
