    Hi,

Guys I’m on the verge of an mental breakdown, I just feel like put my head between my knees and cry cry and cry to death. I have tears in my eyes as I write this, I’m not the kinds who will put up such notes on a forum, I never did earlier when I failed FAR twice.

My first meeting with the beast was in Oct, I know I had made some mistakes which cost me dearly, I failed, I recollected myself gave another attempt in Feb, the exam was so damn easy that I felt I was on the top of the world. I finished with 1.5 hours left … I still feel I cracked the sims as I had all those topics at the back of my head. Surprisingly, I failed again!!!!!!!!

Now I gave my last attempt this Monday, I though I was very well prepared for it and then it all started after my 1st testlet … I must tell that I have NEVER seen such cruel questions in my life. The first testlet was easy, the second was HORRIBLE, 70% were HARD calculations, with long words questions with a lot of twists … They tested me on the MOST DEMANDING questions this exam could ever have… I had SERIOUSLY HARD numeric questions from the scary 5th, 6th and 7th chapter on the becker book … guess the hardest questions they could have thrown on me. I had to kinda rush through the questions attempting them half heartedly as I was loosing time like sand out of my hands. Just to digest the information provided in those question was consuming 3+ minutes forget about attempting them properly. The 3rd testlet was medium difficulty with most questions still being calculations and from similar topics.

I was left with 45 minutes to do the TBSs. Now look at my BAD LUCK, I was CURSED to be given the hardest TBSs I’ve EVER seen. Firstly I had only one research question out of 7 instead of two, and had 6 long wordy Sims… One went from top of my head, I did not attempt. The other 6 were the hardest topics you can imagine from the becker books. I was timed out but I tried to do the best I could have in the time I had. I have attempted the FAR earlier as well, but NEVER EVER saw such a FRIGHTENING exam.

Now, this is the last one I have to clear to earn my licence, but it would not budge and let me clear. If I don’t clear this, I loose my earlier BEC credit, I’ve been studying hard, just on the verge of loosing my job cause I was too much into this exam. … and now I’m already convinced, that this kind of CRUEL exam, now man … I can’t clear this, left the exam with incomplete sims, and those question, I’d call myself a magician even if I got half of them correct. I’ve gone BANKRUPT paying the exam fee, course fee … and am left with no money now…

I’m CURSED, I BEG your prayers for me, I’d be REALLY REALLY GRATEFUL

DEAR AICPA: I PROMISE THAT YOU HAVE ME IN FRONT OF ME IN PERSON AND GRILL ME AS MUCH AS YOU CAN, YOU SHALL BE CONVINCED THAT I KNOW ALL THE TOPICS WELL. THIS EXAM WAS NOT AN EXAM, IT WAS TO BRING OUT THE WORST OFF ALL THE COURSE MATERIAL AND THROW AT A CANDIDATE AT ONCE AND FORCE HIM TO FAIL. THAT’S NOT FAIR … THAT’S NOT FAIR…. YOU HAVE ALMOST RUINED MY LIFE

Sounds like you did ok on the mcq…but you should have managed ur time better on the sims…19% of time for 40% of exam isn't enough time

I've heard of people failing parts 4 or 5 times but eventually getting through the exam. If you don't pass keep sticking with it. The exam probably gave you a good idea of what you need to improve on (you mentioned chapters 5-7). And you've got to manage your time better. And never leave a question blank! How disgusted will you be if you got a 74? Remember the exam is based on a curve, not a strict 75%, so never give up if you feel like you've done poorly.

I know its hard, and frustrating, but just hang in there!!! It will all be worth it in the end. Sometimes to motivate myself I go online and look for jobs that Im interested in…and when I realize that every single job I want requires a CPA, then i KNOW that what im doing is important. I think about my family, and the life we could have if I had that CPA and was able to get those better paying jobs. Just stick with it! I had a friend who studied her a** off, failed BEC 4 times, failed FAR 3 times, and failed REG three times with a 71, 74,74. She didn't give up, and ultimately passed them all. Now she is one of the best accountants i know beacause she has mastered the material better than anyone else.

I know this journey is time consuming and expensive…but its also totally accomplishable so long as you dont give up! I've already told myself it doest matter how many times I have to take each section, or how much money its going to cost me, I AM WORTH THE INVESTMENT, and I know eventually I will pass all the sections and get that CPA.

Just keep believing in yourself! and know that there are lots of other people out there going through the same thing.

    Hi mailtogaurav@hotmail.com

I would say keep calm and identify your weak areas and try to improve on that. Always keep positive thinking that others can pass CPA, means I can pass CPA exam, believe me it is doable, and you can do it, provided you keep positive attitude and continuosly work towards acheiving you goal

I pave pass CPA, my CPA journey was very long

BEC x4 (includes 2×74′) credit expired and passed again

    REGx4 (includes 1×74′)

    AUDx3

    FARx4 (includes 1×74′)

Finally, I have passed CPA and now I am a CPA, really, I feel good now. Believe me, all your efforts will pay you back, just keep on going

Hope My posting will encourage you and will help you in passing the exam

    All the best to all

    ms500, or anyone…

Have you experienced an easier test and passed? I mean, I didn't feel this test was easy by any means, but not a ton or really wordy questions for me. The ones I received I felt I could just pick them apart quickly based on the practice tests I had and move on. I got to the SIMS with 1 hour 45 minutes and completed all seven (guessing on one and had trouble with one). I didn't feel like they were overly long, but I don't know if the SIMS are also progressive.

Any advice for a hopeful CPA?

Can we judge a question as hard, because it was poorly written? Really, now. I don't know if we can really judge a question if it was considered hard or not. On my audit exam, I had really short, clear questions and I passed-and I didn't scrape by either. I think we're all making ourselves a little nuts by trying to judge the difficulty level of the testlets.

To the original poster- I would not be quite so upset. It sounds as if you really rocked your first testlet, as they broke out the big guns in your 2nd one. The fact that your 3rd testlet was still challenging means you probably didn't do too horribly on your 2nd testlet.

When I took FAR and came out feeling good I failed. When I studied my arse off and came out of the test center feeling like I had been run over by a truck, nearly in tears, I scored an 82. So sometimes having that really challenging material is a good thing because it means you were getting things right, so they upped the ante on you.

    Keep your chin up!

Thanks guys … esp Spectrum … I hope what you say is correct ,,, but are the TBS also based on performance… cuz I got the really weired ones. I had only one research out of 7 :-((( and I left one completely blank … it went from top of my head and was very long. Somebody said I should have just filled something but I was out of time, so I decided to work the ones I had some idea with ..

Can anyone throw some light on the TBS

Mailto…If you left one blank but did well on the rest of them I think you still could pass. All sims are worth the same amount of points. What was so hard about that Sims? How were the other ones…were they on big items covered extensively in review books or were there any small things they asked.

It will be repetitive but when I felt good about this exam I never passed. I failed 3 times before finally passing in last Nov. The first 3 times it was hard but I still had hope. The last time (when I finally passed) it was a horrific experience and I could bet million dollars that I failed. My test was just as hard and wordy as you describe yours. When I went to simulations I had only 45 min. Of course, back then the sim part had only 30% weight and I somehow miraculously passed without touching the sims (other than the written communications)… So you might end up being very surprised. Keep your hope!

    Hi Drod,

The sims were not small and easy topics, they were JEs and calculations and long forms to fill with all the information scattered all over. These were those topics which the Becker instructors claim (in their lectures) are the hardest topics covered in the course and are highly highly unlikely to be tested in the exam.

Anyways … I see my BEC getting expired if I flunk FAR, I'm starting to my study my BEC from Monday on and shall keep on revising FAR. If I pass, I'll consider that MAGIC.

Thanks everyone for all the comfort.

    Hi adman0214

You have a good chance of passing, my FAR exam was also like you, I felt good while writing the test, may be I was well prepared for the exam. I was able to finish 6 of 7 simulations, I felt good abt 4 simulations and was not sure abt other 2. So, don't worry & keep positive thinking, you will pass the exam

    All the best
