That didn't just happen, did it….

Just sitting down after pouring a cup of coffee from my Keurig machine…..I sat the coffee on the other side of the table to avoid being near my laptop. Whadda you know, somehow knocked it over (I never do that) onto my Wiley BEC book, which is like a wick. It also landed all over my hand written notes sitting nearby.

p.s. gel pens are great for writing comfort….not so much on not running. Reminds me of the inkjet printers of old. One drop is all it takes.

I really didn’t want to study tonight anyhow.

My heart was in my throat. I thought you were going to say you spilled it in your laptop. I did that in the middle of studying AUD in November, an entire cup of coffee straight into my keyboard, and I remember Yankee saying she did it sometime last year too. I saved my laptop (thank God) although the keyboard's fried and Carbonite has a new customer, but all I could think of was “my test stats… my notes… the software… what if I can't get my disc out… OH GOD”.

Hope the damage wasn't too bad.

I thought you were going to say you went to make a cup of coffee but started the Keurig without the cup in place. That happened to me. I turned around to hear the coffee brewing all over the kitchen counter! Awesome! 🙂

The notes survived with just some limited casualty from the gel pen running.

The wiley book and its newsprint paper is about 3x thicker than normal. I'll just tell people that's how you know when you have been studying enough. “Look at your book, nothing. Mine, destroyed, you better get to gettin”.

I'll only need it for the next ten days and then I am done with BEC.

Yikes! That was my biggest fear since I spill everything. I prefer not to handwrite anyway so I did all my notes in google docs that way even if I fried my computer I could still access them elsewhere! (and my computer did die once between exams)

I take it as a sign from God. I sat that cup of coffee down thinking the entire time “wouldn't that just be the bomb to knock that over” and then I DID IT. I was so half-shocked and half-bewildered that I couldn't react. My mind went into I can't believe that mode. Happened once before at a pizza joint to much hilarity….also involved a can of sterno.

Anyhoo, I watched about 10 minutes of a movie with the wife after the cleanup on isle insanity and was out. I don't even think the names of the actors had scrolled yet before I was sleeping. I slept 11 hours last night and awoke refreshed for a change. I've been up at 5 every work day to study, studied at work during lunch, and studied at night until about ten for the last two months and was worn out.

So I think it worked out.

A couple weeks into studying for FAR I spilled a full glass of water on top of my open Wiley textbook. I don't know what kind of paper they use, but months later it still looks like I just put my book through a washing machine.

That water also went all over my handwritten notes in pencil and my review handouts from Yaeger. That was frustrating, glad it was only water.

    REG - 2013 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES + NINJA AUDIO)

DONE!!! Thank you A71 for all the support! Hiya!!!

    @Cpapending,

Well, your story turned out way better than mine. Katie is right, I spilled a coke onto my laptop 2 weeks before sitting for BEC. I fried my motherboard. Here is the visual: me standing in line at the Geek Squad counter on a busy Sunday, balling my eyes out in front of everyone (I don't even cry at the movies, hate to cry in front of people I don't know!) asking the Geek Squad guy how was I going to study for BEC without my laptop. Oiy! Pretty pathetic.

Glad your story had a better ending!
