I recently passed all my exams and going through the packet that the TX state board sent to me.

On the TSBPA website, it says for work experience that in addition to the work experience form, I need to submit the following:

    1. A statement describing the type and amount of experience the CPA possesses that qualifies the individual to supervise you.

    2. A copy of your job description detailing the non-routine accounting work that you perform, or have performed, for this employer.

Do we just type up a word document that describes my Partner’s work experience and another word document that describes my work experience?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

I noticed on the TSBPA website it states “no less than one year and no more than three years.” I've been with my employer for four years. Does this mean I will need to leave my current position and work for another CPA for one year just to be approved?

@Reed2654,,,no, I dont believe that is the case since that requirement would be quite dumb. I think the TSBPA is just limiting themselves to not require more than 3 years. I think only one year is required and if you have way more experience than that, then you should be fine. If you have any doubts contact the Board.

@Reed2654…I went to the TSBPA site and I think I know why they mention 3 years. We need 1 year of full time experience or if someone is working part-time, they must gain at least 2,000 hours of experience that spans from not less than year and not more than 3 years. So a part-time candidate has to get the revelant experience without taking longer than 3 years.

Like I said, if you have doubts about this (or anything for that matter) is best to call the Board.

That makes sense. I thought it sounded kind of silly to penalize someone for working for the same employer for more than three years. Thanks.

Thanks God, finally I found this thread,

I have a similar situation. I work for a small company where the CPA comes once/twice a month in office. CPA is basically responsible for all the tax filing and we ask him if there is any accounting matters. In this case, which option should I select as a type of supervision,

I think the 2nd option of work experience form ” The candidate being supervised and the CPA supervisor are both employed by the same company, firm or organization but office at different physical locations”. Do I have to submit the CPA's work experience/ job description in this case. Please suggest me.
