I recently passed all my exams and going through the packet that the TX state board sent to me.

On the TSBPA website, it says for work experience that in addition to the work experience form, I need to submit the following:

    1. A statement describing the type and amount of experience the CPA possesses that qualifies the individual to supervise you.

    2. A copy of your job description detailing the non-routine accounting work that you perform, or have performed, for this employer.

Do we just type up a word document that describes my Partner’s work experience and another word document that describes my work experience?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Shiggity – hopefully this helps.

Concerning the Statement of Work Experience by the CPA boss – my boss typed out on Word her previous experience and also her current experience.

As far as my job description, I just submitted a copy of my original job description I signed when i accepted the position. If you do not have your job description, I am sure you could type that up as well.

    Hope this helps!

My employer just typed out a Word doc outlining both his work experience and the types of work I have been doing and for how long. We don't have formal job descriptions at my small office. Texas accepted it.

    Congrats!

    @ MyLifeisCPA and @KEMcpa

Thanks for both your responses. I will probably end up just writing a brief summary/description for my job and also ask my boss/partner to write a brief one as well. Doesn't sound like TX state board is too picky.

    Thanks again.

So I worked in public accounting for 3 years and have been in industry for 2 1/2 years but only at my current company since Dec 2011. Does that mean I can't have my CPA supervisor sign the form until I hit the 1 year mark?

If you are wanting to use your current CPA boss, then yes, you will have to work for that particular boss for a year but if one of your previous boss was a CPA, you could get them to complete your work experience. The good thing is your year is complete in December if you are not able to use one of your other bosses. Congrats again AKB!

I thought you could but get a prior boss and I know mine will I just couldn't find anything that said blantantly that it was acceptable.

Yea, your previous bosses will report on the years you worked for them just as long as it totals a year. You will be fine. Also you can use a combination of bosses if you need total that year of experience as well. Just as long as they were active CPAs when you reported to them.

Does anyone have an example they can provide for the Statement of CPA Work Experience? It would be great if it's one that was accepted by the Texas State Board. Apparently, they dont seem to picky judging by the previous posts.

    Hi Allergic2CPA,

I can email you the one I submitted. Can you post your email? Jeff is that OK if Allergic post his/her email so that I can send them a copy of my Statement of CPA Experience.
