Testing window and retest

    Hi everyone,

I plan to take FAR before March, the first blackout month. I only studied FAR, and I’m still not confident that I will pass. I have a few questions:

    1) Assuming that I will take FAR before the end of January, can I take it again before March: the blackout window?

    2) What are the procedures to pay and schedule your test.

    Thanks

You can only take a part once per testing window, so if you take far in either January or February, you can't take it again until the next testing window (April-May).

    The procedure is to:

    1) get qualified by the state (presumably you've already done that)

    2) once qualified, apply for NTS (notice to sit) – if NASBA state, apply through NASBA, if not I'm not sure since I'm a NASBA state but presumably throuth the state

    3) schedule test, if you need to reapply you go through the same procedure in #2

Most of this info you can find on aicpa, state board of accountancy websites, or you can try going on any of the review course websites, they usually have some info by state. Hope this helps.

For scheduling, google “prometric cpa” which will take you to the scheduling page. You need the nts# in order to schedule the exam.
