Test-taking anxiety

So my test is on the 30th , and I am close to being confident with the material. But I have the tendency to be nervous while taking the exam to the point that I go blank and just become so anxious. Any advice on how to overcome this?

Also, hours prior to the test, what were your preparations? I am thinking of putting in an hour’s worth of work out so to get my blood pumping. And I haven’t decided what to eat that day so to help (if anything) me keep awake while taking the test. I am counting down and I am close to being ready.

I get really bad test anxiety too. Especially about exams that mean something. GE exams in college I rarely studied for and still got high Bs/low As in, but study for two weeks for a final in a Business class and HOLY MOTHER OF GOD, everything would go blank.

I'm taking FAR on Monday and I've just decided that if I don't pass it isn't the end of the world, less than 50% of people passed FAR the first go around in the last two quarters so yes I'll be annoyed I spent all this time studying, BUT I'm just going to go in knowing that it isn't uncommon to have to sit more than once for a section.

Also, I've decided if I blank on a question I'm going to flag/mark it and come back to it. I think if you can convince yourself that yes it IS an important test, but you CAN take it more than once it'll reduce your anxiety. And then hopefully you won't blank on questions :).

Hi, I have had test anxiety too. My advice is to breathe and relax before, during, and after the exam. Also, make sure you are confident, and don't think negatively (like about questions you think you got wrong, etc.) because this is when anxiety can take over. The first couple exams I took were horrible because during the exams I was dwelling on questions that I probably got wrong and I wasn't focusing. The third exam I was better, but the fourth exam, I was a totally different person. I went in thinking – it's not the end of the world if I fail so I am going to give it my best shot. I was relaxed, calm, and still a little nervous, but I was confident and smiled, which helped kick my anxiety's ass. 🙂 Good luck!
