    Hey everybody,

I made a 74 in February on FAR and I’m certain the main area I missed potential points is Journal Entries. I felt really good coming out of the MCs, but the SIMS were tough and I’m sure that’s where I dropped the ball. I remember in particular that one question called for JE’s pertaining to ___________. That was a total shot in the dark for me. Anyway, I’m retaking it on April 23. I’m buckling down now that I’m finished with quarter-close at the large manufacturing company I work for. I’ve got the Ninja notes I’m re-writing before work and I’m hitting the MCs at night. Any suggestions are welcome, but I’m particularly interested in techniques for learning Journal Entries. Thanks in advance.

    Randy,

I had to edit your post for exam disclosure.

One thing I did to learn them was I kept a separate notebook with nothing but journal entries. If I ran across one, I wrote it in that notebook and would review it periodically just like I reviewed formulas and notes. I also tried to write out the je's whenever I worked problems.

I found this compilation of common JE's and treated them like flashcards. I really feel this made the difference for me. I was weaker on SIMS my first time with FAR.

bnrhilton told me about this wonderful book called the Encyclopedia of Journal Entries. I bought it and I love it! I kept it at home while I was studying, but now it's on my desk! I can't recall any journal entry that I needed to know while I was studying that wasn't in there. It's kind of pricey, a little over $100, but obviously well worth the money!
