So I just have a quick question, when you sit down for the exam how much time do you have before you have to start the MCQ’s? The reason I ask is I’m the type of person that once I walk into an exam, I take every formula, JE and everything I have memorized in my head and put it on paper to use as a guide through the exam. Do I have time for this?

    BEC 7/13/12- PASSED
    AUD 8/16/12- Ughhh 71, Rematch: 90!!!

I am not completely certain but I think its ten minutes. I would not risk it but I am paranoid like that.

    Bec - 66, 71
    Aud - 73

Going to enjoy some of the summer and retake both in August since my clock hasn't started ticking yet.

From what i've heard you aren't allowed to start writing anything down until the time starts on your exam, at least that's what the guy from Becker told our accounting club. I would be careful and ask them beforehand when you check in to make sure they don't disqualify you for it.

I've taken a few minutes before the exam to write down notes, formulas, pray, and just relax before I start. At most I've spent maybe 5-7 minutes. I don't know how much time is given. I would ask to be sure, but you should have plenty of time before you start to do your business.

I would go through the beginning pages of the exam, then when your first question pops on the screen, take a minute or two to write everything down. You don't want to run into the chance of running out of time during the beginning pages. I did that the last time I took audit and it worked.

Started sitting in May 2002, on and off. But since 2008 I've been nonstop and my scores are....
    AUD - 39, 48, 56, 65, 68, 73, 76!!! (Finally passed in Oct 2011!!!) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
    REG - 75 (Lost Credit) 72, 68, 73, 75 (Passed again in Aug 2011) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
    FAR - 65, 68, 75 (Lost Credit) 68, 73, 73, 80 (Passed again in May 2012) Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
    BEC - 65, 68, 71, 72, 72, 71, 76 (Lost Credit)- 70, 76!!!! I AM DONE!!! - Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
After 10 long years of studying, I AM DONE!!!! Finally a Licensed CPA in the State of New York!!

You have 10 minutes to start right after entering your Code. These 10 minutes do not count towards your actual exam time, but like others said, be careful because if you haven't clicked “Start Exam” in that time, your exam will self-destruct and the building will explode lol

Hahaha okay sounds good, I will definitely ask because that would of course be a great time saver and should only take me about five minutes.

Yes! I definitely suggest using those 10 minutes to write formulas and nmeoenics (sp?) down; just be careful not to abuse them that is all… I have read about some horror stories on here about people who go over those 10 minutes and their exam ends. 😉
