TBS (SIMS) how are they graded…

I know this has probably been asked a million times. I know for each test-let we have to get 75%. In Audit there are 7 TBS and they all could be worth a different amount of points. Do we have to get 75% of each of the 7 SIMS correct? Is it an aggregate score? If I BOMB one SIM does that just screw me over? I hope this makes sense. My Becker Practice scores only give me a % as in I got 12/16 in one sim, and 4/5 in another and so. Just trying to figure out whats worth what…

No one knows how the sims are graded but it is assumed that they give partial credit or no one would pass. As far as a percent that you need to pass on each testlet, that is not true. The CPA exam isn't graded on a percent basis but instead is graded on a scaled score like the SAT or ACT. The better you do on each multiple choice testlet, the harder the next multiple choice testlet will be. If you have a harder teslet, the questions are generally worth more points than testlets that are of medium difficulty. So someone could get less questions right than one person and get a better score if they have harder teslets for the multiple choice. This progressive testing though does not apply to the simulations according to the AICPA. The simulations are assumed to be different difficulty levels with the harder simulations being worth more than the easier simulations. If you want to see a very vague explanation on how the CPA exam is scored then go to this link.

    BEC - Feb 2012: 80
    AUD - Feb 2012: 84
    FAR - Apr 2012: 78
    REG - May 2012: 90

    Thanks Becker!
