    Hello All,

    I gave my FAR test last week…I did not want to take any break after that as I wanted to stay fresh and in the study mode..The FAR exam was not soo good and still I am in a fix about clearing the FAR..It doesnt make sense to wait for about a month for the results and then start preparing.Might as well start preparing for a new section.

    I am planning to start with Regulation after FAR..Normally people take up AUD after the FAR..but I am keen on taking REG..

    I am using Becker Self Study,Becker flashcards …

    Any advice/experience with people taking this order ??

    It would be really helpful if you all can share your experience…

    Thanks in Advance…Good Luck

    FAR- 79 -->Becker self study, Final review & Flashcards
    REG -72-->Becker ,76-->Becker plus Wiley test bank
    AUD- 73 Becker,72-->Becker+Wiley,69-->Added ninja notes,89 --> Added Gleim review
    BEC- 84 Becker plus Wiley Test bank

    I am Done !!!!

    I took REG after FAR. I found preparing for FAR to be difficult because the questions were all paragraph long and involved 2-3 steps in getting the answers. With that said, I got very complacent after passing FAR and having only REG left to complete. I failed my first attempt at it and currently waiting on my grade after retaking it on July 9th. So my first advice is not to get complacent. Many of the REG questions are shorter, so intuitively one would think this exam is easier. But like AUD the questions are tricky. Few things to consider for this exam;

    1. This is a taxation exam. There are 7 chapters for REG, but make sure to know Chapters 1-4 like the back of your hand. You will need to know chapters 5-7, but chapters 1-4 will be 80% of the exam I believe.

    2. Try not to get confuse as I did initially with individual taxation and corp taxation… You will see many tax topics with different rules for corp and individual. Know what the question is asking you and how to differentiate the corp rules from individual rules.

    3. Know partnership taxation inside out… (recognized gains, realized gains, partners basis, partnership basis (yes there are different)

    4. Know the ethics topics in chapter 4 inside out

    5. As it relates to corp taxation, make sure you know the difference in rules for S corp and C corp.

    6. Know MACRS, trust, estate., gift tax, M1 Schedule, UBI, etc. (Unrelated business Income) well .

    7. While you are studying, any topic that you believe can be put into a comprehensive question (SIMS), try to grasp it well. P.S that includes items #3 & 6.

    ohhh last thing, make sure you know the difference between AGI deductions, Itemized deductions and all items that makes up gross income (Very important)

    I'm using Becker and flashcards too and took REG 3 weeks ago and am taking FAR tomorrow morning. It was definitely more difficult going from REG to FAR. 1-4 in REG are the most difficult part, but if you can comprehend the tax returns and understand how everything flows (ex. going from income to adjustments to itemized deductions, etc) and map out the differences between partnerships and corps than you're going to be alright. 4-8 are pretty simple, just focus during the lectures and drill through the homework and you shouldn't have an issue.

    My study plan, which I don't advise following was: days 1-8, a chapter a day reviewing and doing all the homework/sims. 8-12, two chapters a day redoing all the homework/sims, day 13 practice exam 1, day 14 practice exam 2, day 15 general overview, day 16 exam.

    REG
    FAR
    BEC
    AUD

    I use Roger CPA Review and the order he shows is FAR, REG, AUD then BEC.

    I took REG today and got quite a few questions which reminded me of FAR content. Could be pre-test but I think the order makes sense. Also I think really understanding the journal entries for some of this crap helped me with REG. that being said- I haven't even looked at AUD yet so I have no clue.
