Taking the FAR exam

    Hello everyone,

In a few days I should (hopefully) be getting my NTS…and the plan was to take FAR on February 27 or 28th; however, after pounding MCQs…I am averaging anywhere from 50% to 70% (and some are even 30-40%). I haven’t studied any SIMs yet.

First, do you guys suggest any better mechanism of preparing for this exam? It feels like every time I open up a new section in the wiley bank and start pounding MCQs, I get a topic I don’t recall studying for.

Second, should I postpone it if I keep getting low scores? Or, should I take the exam and see how I do, and then restudy if I don’t think I pass? I think the fee is $200 per section?

At the moment, I don’t think I am ready to pass in 2 weeks.

    Appreciate all suggestions!

Tough call. I will say, that a big part of working the MCQs is to get exposure to many little areas that might have been skimmed over in your review. By seeing the questions, you should be taking notes and committing the new info to memory.

I like to take a few complete practice exams and get a score near 80 before exam day. Also, I like to be averaging above 80 overall before I test.

I am testing on the 28th and hope to get my average up another 10% or so in a week. But if I were in the 50-60's I don't think I would feel very comfortable. IMHO, I would reschedule for early April, leave no doubt to passing, then begin studying for the next section immediately after sitting for FAR.
