Sorry if this grosses anybody out, but I’m trying to figure out how I’m going to manage this terrible cold I have while taking FAR tomorrow. This is my first exam and I have no clue how Prometric works. Rescheduling isn’t an option for me, so I’m just going to have to push through it. I take it I am not allowed to bring any tissues into the exam? If not, do they provide tissues? Or am I just expected to use my sleeve?

Also, what about cough drops? I figure I’m not going to be allowed to take those in either. I don’t really want to have to run out to my locker after each testlet to get a new one. But if I don’t do that, I’ll be coughing through the exam and quite possibly disturbing others that are testing. I also don’t want to waste my precious exam time by taking 3 breaks.

I have had a cold on two different occasions when testing, same testing center and different treatment both times. The first time I was taking FAR and I was not allowed tissue or cough drops, it was such a horrible experience as I was trying to not make others next to me miserable with my sniffing. The second time though I was allowed cough drops if I unwrapped them and put them in my tissue. I was very thankful for this but there is one bad side to wrapping cough drops in tissue…the tissue sticks to them so I ended up eating a lot of tissue that day but it was worth it. So I am not sure if my center just had a cranky person the first time when I wasn't allowed anything or what but you should be able to bring both some tissue and unwrapped cough drops in.

On Friday when I sat for FAR I saw someone walk out with tissues. I'm not sure if they provide them or not. I would bring tissues and ask. It may depend on the site and person who's working there.

    Good Luck!!
