Hello all, so I’m currently studying for Audit & plan on taking that in January. I’ve already passed BEC after on and off studying for a year & was thinking once i passed Audit, would it be possible to study for REG & FAR in one quarter while working full time? I know that sounds like a lot but honestly the prep for this exam has had to much control of my life & i just want my life back lol. If anyone has studied for two parts in one quarter please give tips & advice on how to juggle these parts simultaneously. Your opinions are greatly appreciated.

I took REG in November and am taking FAR Dec 5. Now granted these are both retakes, but nonetheless I'd say it's very possible if you're committed, though difficult especially with tax season coming up. The weeks leading up to the exams I stay at the office until 10pm to study. It's not ideal to say the least, but like you said, I just want my life back! If you start studying in January I'd say take one of them Feb 1 and the next as late as possible in March. I find that if I just sign up for it and schedule everything and pay the money I study much better. My other thought is, depending if you're paying for all this or your company is, take them in the same quarter even if you don't feel especially prepared for one. I'd say DEFINITELY prepare well for one, but if money isn't an issue take the 2nd one while your at it with whatever studying you've done to that point. You never know what can happen and it's good practice! I think it's only an extra $30 or 40 per exam over the 1st one in IL.

I'd recommend not trying to do 2 at once, but rather target a sit date for your first within the first 2 weeks of the quarter, which would leave you 2 months to focus on your second exam.
I did 2 per quarter twice, its very possible if you commit to it, but it will definitely consume your soul.

Thanks for all the advice I appreciate it, between FAR and REG from your perspective which one is harder to grasp as a whole? Ideally I’d wanna study about 4-6 weeks for both (ideally)

AUD early January … REG early to mid-February … FAR on March 10 … that's how to fit 3 in one quarter.

You might do AUD mid-January and FAR early March and let the dust settle on REG changes.

Can you do it yes, but I would not recommend it. FAR is so massive I would easily allow 6-8 weeks alone for it. The biggest problem is your getting into two subjects that have the most calculations and it is so much to remember. Becker recommends 150-180 study time for FAR alone that is studying 4 hours a night for 45 days straight. Also another thing to consider is not only are you studying FAR which is mostly GAAP based but then your going to have to study REG which is tax based two completely different ways of accounting. If you do decide to do it I would do REG first and then FAR second so that if by chance you don’t pass FAR you can retake it again right after and just pick up where you left off before the exam. If you take FAR first and then REG, when you go back to FAR you will have to start all over like hitting reset. Trust me I know this from experience. I am currently on my last section which is FAR which I take tomorrow and I feel like I have been battle it for a year, if I do not pass I lose my reg credit which sucks. I did REG first then AUD then BEC and now FAR. If I could start all over again, I would have easily done FAR first so my 18months start on passing it. Then I would have done AUD, REG, then BEC. Just because BEC seem to be the easiest test for me in my path to the CPA.
