    Hey everyone,

Newbie over here and I am taking my first CPA exam on FAR coming Monday the 19th. Pretty much gone through all the Becker materials and homework. All I have left to go over again are simulations, progress tests and practice exams. I am planning to get all these done during this week.

I am planning to break sections (may be F1-F5 & F6-F10) and take those progress tests, and finally take those practice exams. I feel “ok” on the confidence range. Think I can do better after doing all the revision.

I have few questions I hope you guys can help me here with…I was wondering how important are the simulations. I read in other posts that if you know MCQ concepts you should be fine with simulations. Also, is it true that Becker simulations are easier than real exam? How worried should be regarding these simulations?

Also, any last minute tips or suggestions!

I was basically in your position when I took FAR. I thought the Becker simulations did a really poor job preparing me for the actual simulations but the MC were a lot easier on the exam. Thankfully my MC seemed to outweigh how poorly I did on the sims.

Simulations are 40% of the total score so…very important. I would definitely take some time to review some of the sims…especially in your weak areas…before Monday's test. Good luck to you on your first attempt. You can do this!

Review everything and don't leave out non-profit and governmental accounting. When you are tired of reviewing, practice tons of MCQs mixed between all 10 sections. The great thing about Becker is that it does a great job of mimicking the actual exam format with the practice tests and sims. That way, you will be comfortable with the awkward format of the exam and time it takes you to complete each section.

Also, I made notecards to summarize complicated concepts. Some how, writing it all on one notecard helped me understand the flow and it was easy to reference later. Good luck!
