Taking FAR on July 26th (Considering Pushing It Back, Thoughts?)

    Hello Everyone!

I’ve been scanning the forums and website on A71 for a few weeks now, along with goingconcern.com and some other sites that talk about the CPA and accounting related topics. As many others that have come before me on this website, I am struggling with my studies for FAR and I’m on the verge of a mental breakdown.

I am using the Becker self study (so far so good) but I’ve noticed it takes me a very long time to go through the material (lectures, mcq, and sims). I’ve finished all the lectures and I am now in the “review” process. I am sitting for FAR on July 26th, and I am wondering if this is enough time (today being the 17th, so 9 days) to go through the Becker review included in self study, along with the Becker Final review.

I have yet to take a practice final exam, as i wanted to rework the mcq and sims before I took them (I think this will give me more time to accurately gauge where I am after I’ve seen everything twice).

Long story short, am I good with 9 days of final review (along with Becker Final Review) or should I push back my test?

I would go with non-stop mcq's ( everyday all day) , if you've gone through the materials already the mcq's will give you a chance to apply what you have already studied. This what I'm doing. MCQ's and rewriting notes until 7/31. My confidence vary from session to session, at times I'm on a roll and other times I ask my self why. So I decided not to change the date just get it done. Good luck……you can do this.

    It begins with a 75
Been here too long as a cheerleader....ready to pass

Do not push it back. You will never feel like you prepared “enough” for FAR. And you will never walk out of it thinking “wow, that wasn't bad at all” either.

I am in almost the exact same position as you in terms of how far you come studying, and how much time is left for the “review phase” before the exam. The guys above me have some good points.

However, I've decided to give myself an additional few weeks. One of my main deciding factors is that is only costs $35 to reschedule the exam, as compared to hundreds of dollars to retake the exam if you fail it. I am very confident that if I strap down and use the extra allotted time I have given myself, that I will have a significantly higher chance of passing then if I tried to take it without feeling confidence in passing, or atleast that good feeling of knowing you studied enough. I would ask yourself how much more you feel you will benefit from an additional week or two of studying? If you feel that it will be “material” (haha), then push it back, if not go for it!

What ever you decide, go with it 100% and be confident!

    Good luck
