Hi, I have gone through most of the Becker MC (have about 200 left which I plan to finish by the end of this week..). I am scheduling the exam for August 8th, so I have about 2.5 weeks left. This will be my second time taking the exam (got a 68 last year when I took it). For those who have passed, what are you best suggestions now, in order to use my time wisely? I have all of next week off from work so plan to dedicate all my time to studying… any suggestions or methods you used that helped?

    Thanks!!

FAR is definitely a beast but i would for sure do as many MC's as you can and dont ignore the simulations. I know there is no way to know what kind of sims you will get but just practice the format and time yourself. When i was doing my final review I would make sure I knew all the big ticket items and not trying to nail all the small items. I think sometimes what people might do is try to learn every little thing and not really nail the bigger items. Like they say, FAR is a mile long but an inch deep.

I would definitley know IFRS items. I had roughly 1 IFRS related question on part 1 and then roughly 6 or 7 on both parts 2 and 3. I noticed a moderate amount of questions from F1, F2, F3 and F7. I had numerous questions from F4, 5, 6, 8 and minimal from 9(nfp). If you have done well on the questions, I would read / skim F8 & F9 and work questions on the rest. Also, knowing the journal entries will save you time and get you a bunch of points (eg: CAR IN BIG – Journal Entries).

@Dewey42000: I am pretty sure that your post violates the disclosure rules regarding the CPA exam. You really can't say you had a certain number of questions on certain topics…

    My advice is this:

-practice, practice, practice! Lots and lots of MCQ will reinforce the material…I didn't do enough of this…

-TIME MANAGEMENT! This is so so important. Go into the exam with a plan and stick to it! For myself, I really wanted at least 1.5 hours for the SIMS, so I made myself guess on a few MCQ in order to move on and stick to my time line. I had almost 2 hours left for the SIMS and used every single second of it!

btw, I would NOT skim F8-F9! According to the AICPA outline, that stuff makes up about 25% of the exam. Of course every exam is different and every candidate's experience is different, but I wouldn't count on knowing enough to pass by just skimming those two sections (Gov. and NFP)…

I wish you the best of luck!

    BEC: 79 - April 2011
    FAR: 78 - May 2011
    AUD: 81 - May 2012
    REG: 79 - October 2012
    Ethics: Passed - March 2013
    I am finally DONE!

IwannaBaCPA is definitely right about not skimming F8/F9 due to the % of the exam they are supposed to make up. I think you could probably get away with not having to hit F8/F9 as hard because they are simpler topics with less intense calculations and no comparison to IFRS. The way my final review is laid out for the short time I have left, I am probably going to consolidate my F8/F9 review into a single day because I find the topics manageable enough when I think about them in relation to intercompany transactions or pretty much anything in F2.

    FAR 07/27/11 - 87
    AUD 10/01/11 - 85
    BEC 11/15/11 - 87
    REG 01/03/12 - 92
