Hi I am going to be taking FAR on August 1st. I started studying for it Mid June as soon as I got my NTS. I am using the Becker Test Prep studying material. I just finished going through all the lessons and the book and I am wondering what I should focus on for the next two weeks before the test. I think I want to take a practice exam definitely but I do not know how comfortable I am with the task based simulations. I can probably spend 8-10 hours per day and will take any suggestions. I will be going over the things I don’t know as well and will be doing a ton of multiple choice on Becker, but what else should I do to really prepare myself the best way possible.

The difficult part of this CPA exam is the review aspect of it. You have to understand the material very well or else you will be sorry on the exam day. If certain material is not clicking, you have to read, watch, and analyze until you fully understand them. Other difficult part is sometimes you dont even recognize your weakness. Having a questioning mind at all times while studying is very important.
Thus, during your two weakness you should tackle your weakness hard until you fully understand them. You should definitely take a mock exam to see where you stand. It also helps to identify your weakness.

One of the battles with studying for the CPA exam is finding the time to do it, so if you have 8-10 hours available per day, you're already in good shape.

Mock exams are a must imo and Becker has three per section. I would highly recommend doing one to familiarize yourself with the format, especially with the SIMS since it's your first exam. The mock exams are also a great tool to pinpoint your knowledge gaps with the content.

Do the SIMs so you can get a feel for how they ask the question and how they want it answered. You need to know how to follow the instructions. SIMs can help you nail concepts by forcing a different approach to the problem. I did a practice exam because I got so used to seeing the answer pop up up right away and knowing if I was right or not that practicing the exam experience helped me prepare for exam conditions. You have to read all the information that comes up with the answer in mcq’s. I also used ninja books and audio and know I scored exam points from each. Practice, practice, practice. I didn’t use Becker but if it identifies your weak areas hit those hard and keep reviewing to keep things fresh. You can do this! Good luck.

and a little thing i like to call, time and effort!
if you want things to change, you have to do something different
