I am taking my first exam tomorrow, which happens to be FAR. I have been studying since April, but “really studying” since the end of May. Although I’ve gone over the MCQ, lectures, notes, SIMS through and through, I am still not feeling confident about the exam. The sections I am most confident are Govt and NFP and general topics throughout all the lectures. I am worried about the details and the lengthy/wordy calculations. Didn’t do too well on the Becker practice exams, so feeling pretty down. Someone help me!!!

The fact that you feel strongest on govt and nfp is a good thing because the consensus seems to be that those are the most heavily tested. I would try to just relax today. If you've been studying since May, you have A LOT of knowledge in your head. You don't want to risk getting burned out. Maybe just go over some notes/an outline today briefly but otherwise try to take your mind off of things. 2 deep breaths before you click “Start” tomorrow and you should be fine. Good luck and let us know how it was!

Good luck tomorrow Sarajane! Entourage gave you some good advice. Tomorrow, I'll be sitting for FAR for the 3rd time. I am going over Govt & NFP one more time today along with basic concepts. I don't like to do any major calcs the day before or else I'll freak out. 🙂

    REG - 80 (Becker only)
    BEC - 76 (Becker only)
    AUD - 71, 76 (Becker only)
FAR - 65, 74, 81! (Becker, Wiley Test Bank, Ninja notes & Audio)

    CPA Class of 2012 🙂

Thanks guys for the advice! Really appreciated. I guess I am just nervous because I am weak on bonds and some inventory methods, which could be heavily tested. I feel like I understand them when I am reading the material, then come the MCQ and I go blank.

Definitely take Entourage advice. To add, the questions seemed easier on the actual exam compared to Becker's MCQ. I'm not saying it was easy but easier. 🙂 Don't beat yourself down because to me it doesn't seem possible to be 100% prepared unless you have a photographic memory. I didn't feel prepared and wanted to reschedule my exam, but hey sooner or later you have to bite the bullet and take it, which I did. I walked out of the exam thinking I failed it, but when it came down to scores being released, I passed! If you feel like you failed coming out of prometric that could be a good sign. 🙂 Understand the core concepts and read through the ancillary at least once. Other than that, good luck to ya and let us know how you did.

    1. you'll never feel prepared, so don't go by that feeling

    2. you'll probably feel horrible coming out of the exam, so don't go by that feeling either.

    3. If you can, use the authoritative literature tab (used for the Research sim) to help you with the other sims

    FAR -- 90
    AUD -- 95
    BEC -- 82
    REG -- 92

    DONE!

I actually just took FAR today. I started studying the last week of May. The one advice I can offer is know your journal entries. My sims were full of journal entries. Other than that, everything was pretty straight forward. Since you've been studying for so long, everything should be fine. Relax and get there a little early so you're not rushing. Good luck!

    FAR - 88
    AUD - 98
    REG - 87
    BEC - 83
