I’ve posted so many times that I’m probably becoming obnoxious to everyone BUTTT I have somewhat of a dilema & I’m not experienced enough with these exams to know what to do….

I have 10 days left to study for FAR… I’m ONLY on chapter 7, haven’t done any reviews yet, I do have a Yaeger CRAM I definitely want to use but haven’t yet & I work full time (I may take off 2 days next week though).

I am currently using Becker, but debating on switching over to Yaeger because I think I’d prefer a teaching course instead … so the question is, do I suck it up & study every possible second ’til my exam, and probably fail anyways (not joking…) or do I postpone my test until Jan/Feb (which I really didn’t want to do) so I have more time and can possibly buy the Yaeger material before then? I really do not feel comfortable with this material where I am now, I feel like I’ve forgotten everything I studied in previous chapters already!!! Frustrated doesn’t even begin to cover how I’m feeling right now… I feel like during the lectures I grasp the concepts pretty well, but then when I get to the multiple choice I’m like what the heck?? I don’t know why I am having so much trouble applying the formulas & that’s why I think the teaching course would help me. Money is also an issue, I don’t have an extra $300-400 laying around to retake a bunch of exams!

All this stress is literally making me sick to my stomach… I am at a loss of what to do here!

I have walked in your shoes. I took and passed all 4 parts while working full-time and going through busy season. I had all these great plans of studying from January 12 – February 27th for FAR, but I had procrastinated and our daughter was born January 27th. I was in the middle of chapter 2 when my daughter was born.

I sucked it up and studied after work (50-55 work hours mandatory at that time). I did not take any days off. I was not sleepig more than 2 hours at a time and was studying until midnight and going to work by 6:30. I was a zombie. I wasted too much time trying to master the first couple of chapters in Becker and literally covered 4 out of 9 chapters in completion by the time I was to take the exam. I just answered questions on the other chapters I did not get to the lectures on. I took a practice test the night before and scored in the 60s on all three question banks. Thought I was screwed….

Well, I passed and am so happy I did not do what you are considering. Suck it up, study hard and take the test as scheduled. You may pass and you may not, but dont waste this time because you are nervous. Just do it!

    AUD 93 (1/12); DAUGHTER (BORN 1/27); FAR 79 (2/27); REG 85 (5/26); BEC 80 (7/1)

In my personal opinion, I would try to stick it out and take the test. I went into my FAR exam feeling totally unprepared. I also used Becker, which I think did a fabulous job. There was just so much material to learn at once. I walked out crying and thinking I failed. A week before my test, I had considered pushing it off until October, but decided to give it a shot since I would lose a big chunk of money cancelling that close to the test date. I figured, why not, maybe there's a shot in a blue moon I'll pass. and sure enough…

I realize these tests are expensive, but paying to switch to Yaeger will also cost you some money. If you feel as if you can get through the material in 10 days, and do somewhat of a review, I'd give it a shot. The grading of these exams is so foreign to everyone, no telling what your score will come out as! Plus, you may avoid the test changes in 2011!!

Best of luck Manderz in whatever you decide!

    BEC 7/9/10: 86
    FAR 8/24/10: 83
    AUD 10/1/10: 93
    REG 11/19/10: 89

Alright, thank you so much for your input! Maybe I will just give it a shot… I've put so much time in already, I don't want to lose all of what I've studied so far! I just wish I had as much faith in myself as you seem to.

But then should I focus on getting through just the lectures for all the chapters and then go back during my review for all the multiple choice? Or do a lecture, study that topic & do MCQ, do a lecture, study that topic & do MCQ, etc…..

Just not so sure how to go about doing this to capitalize on the time I do have left!

Stick it out and take it. Cram like crazy and think that every minute you put in puts you a minute closer to being done. Worst case, you get a good practice and have a good idea of what the questions will be like in case you have to take it again. Dont walk out even if its getting bad and you are freaking out. My boss nearly walked out of FAR a couple times because she felt so lost and ended up passing

    BEC - 86
    AUD - 94
    REG - 88
    FAR - 89
