I have been using the Becker study material but it is really not helping me understand the concept. I have read it has help some ppl but for some reason I just don’t like the way they “teach” you the material. I notice many Club 75 bloggers use the Rogers CPA review. So I’m checking out the demos for both Rogers and Yaeger. Any recommendations on which one to go for?

    I appreciate your opinions.

I purchased Roger cram for BEC and liked it.

I don't have any experience with Yaeger, so of the two I can only recommend Roger, which I found quite good.

I am using the Kaplan Schwesser Review Course and really like it. I took the exam about 6 years ago and was unsuccessful. I decided once I left public accounting that I was not going to pursue it, but I had a change of heart and decided it would be beneficial for my career and something I can say I accomplished when I am done.

I used the Becker course the first time through but did not put enough time and focus into my study routine. Becker was a good course and works for many, but did not fit my style. The course went straight through the material one chapter at a time whereas Kaplan jumps around between various topics and continually has you go back and review the material you were working on in the past days/weeks (i.e. You may read the chapter on Individual Tax on Day 1, Watch the videos for Corporate Tax that same day, and on Day 2 you would do the MC questions for Individual Tax and maybe start another subject as well. The scheduling tool also builds in time to go back and review each section during the last few weeks and is customizable based on the amount of time you want to spend on your review. Kaplan is also less than half the price of Becker and has great discounts. I saved over $400 on my materials by being a member of the state CPA society.

I have two kids and therefore not a lot of free time, but I find that the Kaplan course allows me to build a flexible study schedule that ensures I am focused on the exam and have time to spend with my family. Hopefully this information helps with your decision.

I'm using a combination of CPAExcel and Wiley. They seem to cover it well.

I focused on Wiley for Auditing for my detailed notes. I'm focusing for CPAExcel for BEC but just got my Wiley book yesterday and for Corporate governance there was a LOT of information Wiley covered that CPAExcel didn't.

I didn't feel underprepared on my Auditing exam–at least not for the MCQ and most of the sims. Two I was completely not prepared for (neither went into enough detail)….but I think those were the questions not the prep.

+1 for Roger. I used his live course for all four sections and added his cram course for FAR and AUD because I was literally trying to cram those two tests into the last few weeks of the testing window. He is high energy and that may not work for you (it totally worked for me because being a CPA is DRY) but if you're checking out his videos then that's the same level of energy throughout the sections.

    REG 82 (10/07/11)
    BEC 88 (11/01/11)
    FAR 86 (11/21/11)
    AUD 82 (11/30/11)
