Took my first CPA exam ever (FAR) on the 28th. Found out this morning that I got 71. I used Becker live course, which I thought was a complete waste of my time and did all of the Becker’s MCQs multiple times. I work full time and studied for 3 weeks after the live course was over (nights and weekends every day). Going into the exam I felt like I didn’t know my JEs too well and I was right, SIMs destroyed me. So my questions is, based on your experience do you think I should buy any supplementary study material for my retake or just concentrate on JEs and do Becker MCQs again? If you think extra study material will help, what would you recommend?

Getting 71 on this exam is very confusing especially when it’s your first exam, not sure where to go from here…

    F - 71, 76
    A - 59, 70 ( 3rd time is a charm?)
    R - 2/16
    B - 77

I have heard many complaints about people memorizing the Becker questions and not fulling understanding the material. I would suggest getting another test bank. I like the Ninja MCQ. It wasn't out when I studied for FAR, but it was awesome for REG. Also, for FAR I wrote out JEs for nearly every single question, not just the ones that required it. Here are a couple of websites to help with JEs.

    https://sites.google.com/site/farnotes/gas-34/journal-entries–fund-based-vs-government-wide

And a video to help with deferred taxes.

You'll get in Q2! Make sure you study everything over again and not just your strong areas. You can do this!

CPA Exam - Finally DONE (November 2014)
    BEC (08/10/13) 80
    AUD (08/24/13) 65 (11/13/13) 85
    FAR (04/12/14) 81
    REG (07/19/14) 69 (11/29/14) 87!!

Read the lectures very carefully. Especially if you know which areas you were weak.

I did not do any extra questions outside of Becker (or its optional questions). Just reading helped but that will depend on you learn and retain information.

I took a nap right after I came home to reboot which helped get through the night.

I found this site when I was in college that was straight and simple to the point.

@asimo I just looked at that site for about 5 mins and I wish I knew about this in college. It looks like it breaks everything down in a very simple manner, it's like accounting for dummies.

    BEC - 83 (1/23/15)
    FAR - 80 (4/3/15)
    REG - 88 (5/14/15)
    AUD - 81 (7/3/15)
