I’m still not too sure what these are and I often think of them as interchangeable terms when I know they’re not. What is the difference between them? Thanks!

Supplementary information is any information presented in addition to the financial statements that are not considered necessary to fairly present the financial statements.

Notes to the financial statement also referred to as footnotes are an integral part of the financial statements and are required by the full disclosure principle. Footnotes are additional information and clarification to items presented in the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement (helps explain how a company arrived at its financial statement figures). They also help explain irregularities or perceived inconsistencies. Hope this helps!
