Has anyone retaken FAR after getting a low score and successfully passing it your 2nd or 3rd time. What did you do? I received a 54 on my first try in March and will retake it either the end of August with two weeks to prepare or in early October. I took AUD recently and I am scheduled to take REG and BEC before I can do a FAR retake.

    F: 54 (4/13) 60 (4/14) 67 (9/14) 66 (10/14) 63 (11/15) 79 (2/16) PASSED
    A: 60 (5/13) 80 (4/16) PASSED
    R: 60 (7/13) 61 (2/15) 70 (4/15) 77 (7/15) PASSED
    B: (6/16)

I have not successfully passed FAR yet (although I'm waiting to see if I did on my 5/28 attempt), but if you have a choice between REG and BEC before your FAR retake, I suggest taking BEC. It has a lot of the same concepts/equations in it, whereas REG has tax rules that are sometimes opposite of the financial rules. That may be confusing to you before FAR again. Just a thought.

    AUD-84, REG-75, BEC-84, FAR-77

You are going to need more than two weeks to prepare for FAR, even if you had scored higher than a 54 you would need longer. I passed FAR my first try in 2010 but lost credit for it. When I took it my second time I scored a 70. I then spent another 6 weeks restudying and felt like I could have used more time. You will need to study it like you are starting over fresh. If I were you I would retake it in October. You will likely be hitting burnout that last two weeks of August after studying for REG and BEC in that window and likely won't be able to get a good review.

@CPApracticer I took FAR twice, 60 something on the first try and an 82 on the second. IMHO, be sure to review each section and get a general understanding of all of the MAJOR concepts, then do as many MCQ's as you can and take notes.

In my first attempt I was only able to obtain a general understanding and do a small amount of MCQ's. For my second attempt I did well over 2000 maybe close to 3000 MCQ's. I took copious notes on any questions I didn't fully understand. I scanned these notes to PDF and reviewed them on my phone at the gym, on the train before/after work, during lunch break, any chance I could to just keep my mind on the topics as often as I could; I was borderline certifiably nuts about it. I filled roughly 1 1/2 spiral notebooks for REG FAR and AUD, all handwritten; like I said, nutty (like Kevin Spacey in Seven, lol). I think it comes down to MCQ's and understanding, not only the correct answer but also why the other selections are incorrect.

That is what I did, I hope it helps a bit.

    BEC: Passed
    REG: Passed
    FAR: Passed
    AUD: Passed
