Studying SIMs for FAR?

What is the best way to go over the SIMs for FAR? I use Gleim and I tried the method of just actually doing them and seeing how I did afterwards, but I find that to be extremely time consuming and not all that worthwhile. I also have heard that reviewing the SIMs intensely can not be very beneficial as the SIMs on the exam are usually different than what has been practiced. Any advice would be appreciated!

I still think doing them is helpful. People get overwhelmed by sims on exam day because of all the information blasted at you at one time. Even if you can't prepare for the exact type of question you'll encounter on exam day, it's worthwhile to practice the skill of answering sims, i.e. figuring out as quickly as possible what the questions are, then filtering through all of the irrelevant information to get to the answers.

For me the SIMs helped me understand the concepts more. I took the time to do them especially in areas I was confident I'd see a lot of questions on and SIMs on.
