So I took BEC this summer (failed) and used just a bisk textbook. Started studying for AUD with a bisk textbook a few months ago and postponed my test until February 2011. Anyways, I don’t know if I should invest in becker’s $3000 review for all 4 parts or what. Anyone have any advice? I usually learn by reading books so yea. I know it’s expensive but I really want to pass a few parts.

Becker is really good. I've passed 3 out of 4 first time (so far). After watching the lectures and doing the MCQ, going back to the beginning and reading the chapters is key! Of course, then do the MCQ again! Good Luck. I know it's pricey but you still have to put in a lot of time.

@bluecrush73 : I think Beckers books are excellent. I have 2 year old books handed down to me by a friend (no flashcards or online lectures) and I still managed to pass both the exams I've taken so far without studying for more than 10 days each. Beckers books are concise (unlike Wiley's which I believe has far too much material) and their MCQs really help!

Talking about Audit in particular, make sure to go over all of Beckers questions (including supplemental ones) and read the detailed answers. When I took my test I realized that more than one answer is correct and it is a real challenge to pin-point the “best” answer and this is where I think Beckers helped me the most!

Hope this helps! Good luck! 🙂

I wouldn't use 2 year old Becker books for FAR or REG if you are still…

Becker is concise and works, but I wouldn't be willing to pay $3k for it.

    FAR 92 - AUD 91 - REG 94 - BEC 86

@potatogun: Becker provides updates on its website for the past 2 years of material so I update my own books and its surprising how little the difference is!

Plus I received CPAexcel review material this year for free and refer to them for any additional information!

Hope this continues to help me for the next 2 exams!

I used both Lambers and Becker for AUD. Garland with Lambers is one of my top four teachers. He lectures on the material and explains many multiple choice questions in a way that Becker never does. Garland also covers material that Becker does not cover. You can get the course for around $300. I would buy Lambers BEFORE you put out the big bucks for Becker.

Unlike the other exams, AUD is just memorization and a tricky word game. Only doing 3,000 multiple choice questions will put you into a position of passing. Be sure to do ALL of the AUD questions in “CPA Review For Free.”

If you do not pass after doing those 3,000 multiple choice questions, then spend the big bucks for Becker. I rate AUD as Becker's best course and BEC as Becker's worst course.

Buy Yaeger for BEC. Cindy Simpson with Yaeger rocks! Cindy will prepare you for BEC better than Becker!

I also learn by just reading. I used the Bisk book plus Jeff's notes to study for Audit in November and I got a 97. I think the Bisk book has all the information you need to pass and excellent questions and explanations. But unfortunately, this section is a complete memory game, so you need to find the method that really helps you to memorize.

Florida - Using Bisk, Jeff's Notes, and CPAreviewforfree.com

    FAR - 87 (08/14/10) AUD - 97 (11/12/10)
    BEC - 83 (02/26/11) REG - 90 (05/31/11)
