I really had to regroup and figure out what I was doing wrong while studying. I had the habit of just memorizing the MCQs and not really conceptualizing them. JE's were also my arch nemesis so I wrote out JE's for every possible MCQ just to help solidify it all. Look at your score report, if you are weak on simulations, then you have to divide your time between simulations and MC. It worked for me!

I benefited from Ninja MCQs. Do as many as you can, and read the explanations for the ones you get wrong and right.

There was another free MCQ website that I came across the last day before the exam. I just did it for the sake of it, but it actually helped.

For myself, it was definitely working on my journal entries. It helped me feel much more comfortable with my SIMS and also provided some additional boosts to my MCQ sections.

Thanks guys.. i still haven't got my score report.. any idea how long does it take? I feel my mcqs were fine and sims is where i had terribly fallen behind cuz of time and also 4 out of 7 I couldn't understand and do it as I was in a hurry to complete it…

I usually get mine within a day or two after the release. Don't focus only on your weak areas. Most people don't realize that the key to SIMS is understanding the topics really well. There are definitely some SIMS you can guess on or use the AL for, but if you understand the ins and outs of all the aspects of FAR then SIMS are less intimidating. I approach every retake like it's the first time studying for that section. I didn't have to retake FAR, but for REG and AUD…I read the entire book and took notes, then focused on the test bank going through one section at a time until I had a decent handle on the material. When I moved to a new topic I would take a refresher quiz on the prior topics so they stayed fresh. My fear with FAR was always forgetting what I already knew because of the massive amount of topics. Just remember that you won't remember everything in FAR, but you need to understand all the topics fairly well.

yes cpamommyof3 i totally agree to you. Will work more and focus on my weaker areas and take notes..yes even i tend to forget the pref chapters when i move forward so this time will keep taking section quizzes in between so that it stays fresh 🙂 thanks 🙂

On my retake, I spent more time on Gov./NFP since I was marked weaker on this topic the first time. And, make sure you understand IFRS and GAAP differences. Leave at least 1.5 hours for SIM.

Go through Becker/whatever review course you are using an create a cheat sheet showing all possible JEs. It helps paint the picture of what each chapter is trying to teach. In my experience I found it was very important to get the big picture and then narrow it down. FAR is just teaching you how to create financial statements, start with the statement and understand how it's built so you can conceptualize the entire process.
