Starting with FAR, but need some encouragement

My goal after completing the CFE soon, is to begin my journey for the CPA. I am far removed from school, and researched and decided on CPAExcel for my program of choice. I decided to try to knock out FAR first, but got somewhat psyched out with all of that material to learn; especially being so long out of school. At the risk of sounding defeatist, is it possible to pass this “bear”, without having recent knowledge of all of the various topics? I am never one to quit, and don’t plan to do that in this case; but, the amount of information contained in both books frightened me. πŸ™‚

I took FAR first, its a nice one to have out of the way. Its 90 mc test, with some SIMs, dont make it out to be anything more than that. Its intimidating at first, especially when its your first exam. The material will become more comfortable as you go though. Make no mistake, its gonna take a lot of effort. Your life outside of accounting will be on the back burner. I knew I was ready to take it when i asked myself “What could they ask me that I wouldn't know how to do?” and i came up with nothing. Im a FSU grad as well. Good luck!

Cool. Thanks. I am never one to run from a challenge, but after passing the CIA, and hopefully soon the CFE, looking at that material sure looked daunting!!! πŸ™‚ Go Noles

    Thanks TeeTee…..

I'm a glutton for punishment, I know. Meant to do the CPA thing long ago, but “life” got in the way. Already had a CGAP too, so I decided to sit for the remaining parts of the CIA first. Then, someone talked me into the CFE, which I will take soon. So, M.B.A., CGAP, CIA, CFE, and hopefully soon the CPA. And oh yeah….TIRED. πŸ™‚

Looks like you're almost “home free”. That is fantastic!!!! Do you like CPAExcel? I really did my homework thoroughly, before choosing that program. I like that it has unlimited updates with no additional cost, until you pass.

Yes, I like it very much but I also supplement with WTB because the questions are similar to the exam…

They are one company now so you may have to check the website to see how it all works now…

Good to know. I purchased the combo on here, with the test bank, notes, and flashcards. Will that give me good SIM practice too? While the whole exam gives me pause, the SIMs really concern me the most.
