Some motivation to pass!

First I’ll give the standard disclaimer of “Your results may vary”……..

I’ve been rather unhappy at work for the last couple years now. While I was studying for the CPA exam and before, I had been looking for another job. I had a couple of interviews, but nothing that worked out. I quit searching and figured after I pass my exams and after the holidays, I’d pick up my search again.

I just passed my last exam in October and became OFFICIALLY certified in early January (process was held up due to a clerical error). Just two weeks ago I began looking again. I’ve had about seven or eight calls, four interviews, and two job offers. Today was my second interview at one of the places. I walked out of there at 9:45 and by 10:15, I had an offer letter in my e-mail. So in literally two weeks, I’ve had all of this activity in my job search, much more than I had in six months before. Two job offers two weeks after becoming a CPA!

Bottom line is that I don’t think it’s a coincidence that I’ve had so many more bites just by adding three letters to the end of the top line of my resume.

So, for those of you who want to give up, don’t. You’ll soon reap the rewards of being a CPA. I could not believe how many more employers were calling for interviews compared to before.

    Hi There,

Thanks for the much needed motivation! I couldn't help but notice your scores which are quite high! Congratulations! Would you mind sharing your study technique and what review material you used?

    Whitesox,

That is great. Sometimes I hear that people pass and still are unemployed and stuck in a rut, but you have made my day!

Congrats Whitesoxfan! I had a similar experience yesterday, even though I have one last part to take before becoming a CPA. Last night, as part of a graduate seminar, I met the president of the Puerto Rico society of CPAs and I have a job offer in advance after I get my 3 letters. This job will be for one of the most recognized firms in Puerto Rico and I'm very optimistic about my future now. This will really serve as an added incentive to do well in REG. I strongly believe becoming a CPA is the door to our professional success.

@shay–It doesn't look like the OP has posted or commented on anything in this forum for the last 3 years. I don't think he's going to be able to help much. 🙂 There is another CPA, BarelyStayingSane (I think) that passed not too long ago, had as high of grades, and posted his study methods on this thread
