Okay so I had my first experience with the CPA on the 25th… I took the FAR and I must say it was an interesting exam…

I studied around ~200 hours over 6 weeks. Went through a little over 1500 MCQ’s and did all the Becker Task Based.. Made my own flash cards too..

First testlet..Went through the 30 multiple, had 2-3 flags…wasn’t sure if it was easy or medium (It was a very satisfying mix of theory / calculations)….. Next testlet got way harder, the theory and multiple were both obviously harder than the pervious testlet. I got nervous and ended up flagging around 10 questions… I had 2 hours to go so I moved on to the next one. I felt I did well again on the last testlet and then moved on to the TB with exactly 1 hour 5 minutes to go.

This is where I got confused…I’ve been reading threads here for weeks now and everyone was saying how hard the TB were… Mine were not difficult at all? I nailed the research, was able to adequately fill up 4 more questions..Had 20 minutes to go and I had solved 5/7… The last 2 seemed impossible, just way too long, would’ve given myself a headache if I went through those 2 so I just reviewed my 5 and submitted the exam with 15 minutes to go.

A few hours later…I started worrying. Did I do well or did I just go too fast due to the time pressure…Did I fall for all the traps? Did I start off as easy go to medium and then back to easy? Or was it medium-hard-medium?

I’m really confused honestly. How I did could depend on many things. I hope someone with a similar experience can share! Thanks!!

Nope- you were lucky- I got SIMS that were riduclous the whole way- my research question I was tricked on – so I totally missed that one…

Don't worry, you prob passed with flying colors. I hope I passed

Hope we both passed, from what I've been reading there's no way for anyone to be sure of anything with this exam…

The wait for the scores is going to be insane.

Yea my Sims were rediculous, they were about a page long before even getting to the part to fill in answers

cpatime- I took FAR on the 25th as well and had a very similar experience to yours. I felt pretty good about my 1st MC with only about 4-5 flags, then the 2nd MC I thought was ridiculous, and it felt like I was guessing on every other one! At this point it really shook my confidence but I decided to move on instead of wasting time trying to figure out questions I had never even practiced before. Then the 3rd was pretty medium, didn't feel like I did awesome on it but felt better than the 2nd.

Then I got to the sims with about 1.5 hrs left… and couldn't believe my eyes. I don't want to say that they were a piece of cake, but I was definitely expecting worse. I pretty much knew how to answer 5/7 of them, and then had enough time to look up some guidance for the other 2. I think we got extremely lucky because I've heard so many horror stories for the sims.

Can't wait till March 7th….

Wow me neither, glad to hear of a similar story…I was expecting a nightmare with the SIMS and to be honest I was shocked at how much easier they were than I had expected.

I mean the first 2 were impossible…I couldn't even think of where to start/what to do.

Then it got easier..maybe I got lucky with the research cause I typed in the key word and then looked around for 30 seconds and boom found it.

Hope the case is that we studied hard and did well, no clue honestly, not keeping any hopes up till I see the grade.
