    and…..

    I actually feel ok…still not sure if I passed but here is my feedback on the exam…would love to know if the more experienced here think I have a shot of passing…

    The MC’s

    Like everyone said, the first section was clear cut…i only had three questions I even marked for review…im guessing that i probably got at least 25 correct possibly more.

    Second testlet..well since ive been coming here i looked for this one to be harder to gauge progress…and…i felt like it shifted to more complicated topics and was a little more wordy with questions with maybe a trick or two…i was real comfortable with this section as well so i would say I could have gotten 25 right…i did have more marked for review…like 7 or 8,,i hope i am not projecting and just thinking this was harder cause i wanted to be doing well.

    Thirs testlet…definetely harder but again i could hang…i marked nearly half for review and a question showed up that was pretty obscure and I remember when studying thinking that if this topic comes up in three i would think i was doing well…hopefully its not me projecting again…all in all i think i would have gotten 70-75 of the questions correct possibly more.

    Now on to the sims…..well someone posted before that they had taken FAR recently and saw some tough sims…i know what they are talking about now

    I wont be specific but both were long an both had every tab as a different topic…I am sure I got the written part done well on both of them and then I am pretty sure i clicked the right reference on those tabs.

    As for the questions on the tabs…it was up and down….the first one i was pretty comfortable with a lot of the material and prob got like 75% of calculation tabs correct..the second one was tougher so im thnkin like 50-55% correct….so i am hoping if they throw one out its the second.

    so to summarze

    estimate roughly 70-75 questons correct in the mcs

    estimate both writing and research tabs full points

    sim one estimate 75% of calculation tab correct

    sim two etimate 50-55% of calculaton tab correct

    does anyone think I might have passed?

    Thanks

    Chris

    I left the test feeling horrible about it and the sims were especially hard. On the sims I know that I got multiple tabs completely wrong because I just made up numbers and stuck them in. I still passed with an 88…..if you did as well as you described you will pass

    done!

    thanks for the encouragement…i really felt pretty good about the mc's so im thinking that will help…i just hate the idea that i did not do as well on the sims….

    Rahul…i used becker to prep…..the at home course

    I gave myself 7 weeks to get ready…i did all the lectures on video and read the chapters 2x….i did all the homework questions 2x plus the final exam and the sims and then i studied specific weak points…..i would say soup to nuts about 250 hours…..it must have been a lot cause when i wanted to go golfing this weekend my wife was kinda pissed saying how she had not seen me on a weekend for awhile…..

    I have to say tho it still feels so hard to gauge my result knowing that i think i did real well on the MC's but that i did fairly poor on the sims….still feels like the rug is gonna get pulled out and im gonna get a 74 or something

    oh well i guess we're all in the same boat…feels good having a place to chat about it with folks who are going thru the same thing

    thanks again

    Chris

    if you felt good, you passed.

    The people who issue the test do an amazing job making you feel so unsure after you walk out, no matter how much you studied.

    FAR was first, and I was soo nervous about everything, studying/actual exam/waiting for results, I felt like crap walking out after all the time I put into it. I was very pleased with just passing.

    I walked into BEC thinking I'd score 90 minimum. Walked out feeling like crap, waiting for these results was the worst thing I've ever experienced in regards to the CPA process.

    Audit was a different story, I worked in Audit, developed several new client audit programs, did a ton of SOX work with attribute testing/review, etc. I planned on scoring above a 90, I didnt even go back to check my work because I was so confident by the times the SIMS came around I was going to pass. I literally whipped through this exam like it was a race.

    The one advantage of waiting to take the exam I guess. Now I'm on REG which is bringing me back to my college days, not the funnest but definitely learning the most here.

    FAR 11/13 - 78, BEC 1/13 - 82, AUD 2/23 - 94, REG 5/15 - 86

    I felt horrible (only completed one tab in each SIM) after taking FAR!

    I was convinced that I had failed but was shocked when I passed with a 78!

    It seems that when you feel really bad after taking FAR, you still have a good chance of passing!

    I have read many posts like mine…..

    So maybe next time you take FAR you'll feel horrible…? lol

    BEC=77, FAR=78, REG=73,74,80, AUD=70,69, 84 DONE!

    thanks NJ…..thats my worry, that I shoud have felt like crap and I didnt 🙂

    I guess you just never know.

    I have talked to a few CPAs i worked with tho and most said they felt fine when they left and they passed so it really is a crapshoot

    i guess i will just wait and see

    does anyone know how long it takes to have scores posted online and where i go to get them…i live in AZ

    thanks

    Desert, good luck! I agree, these exam are a crapshoot because they can't pass everybody, so the “curve” can work against you so NO more than 40-50% of the candidates pass.

    You could get your score early by going to the “loophole”…

    whats the loophole?

    the “loophole” is the Ohio NASBA….when the AICPA releases the scores, you can infer if you passed or not before your state reports to you….

    BEC=77, FAR=78, REG=73,74,80, AUD=70,69, 84 DONE!

    wow so even tho i tested in az i can pick up a score from Nasba ohio

    do to that directly thru the nasba websites list of states?

    Yes, the way it works, doesn't matter what state you're from. All you need is your DOB and SS no. in the Ohio NASBA….The Ohio NASBA does not give you a score, but will tell you if you have passed all of your parts, or let you register for the one you failed..and won't let you register for the parts you passed!

    It works all the time, you can find out if you passed a few days (2-5) before they become official in your NASBA state…

    BEC=77, FAR=78, REG=73,74,80, AUD=70,69, 84 DONE!

    The loophole will only let you know after the AICPA has officially released the scores though. That means the loophole can potentially let you know 1 or 2 days early. It didn't work for me last time, but I got my score the next morning.
