Skipping FAR Concept

Hi, I’m new studying FAR and I’m trying to get the most efficient-study method, cause I have less than 5 weeks to get this thing done. One of my friends that passed said that I should ignore Chapter 1 Becker cause that’s only the concept and none of the questions from chap 1 got tested. Basically, I just need to study from Chapter 2-10. In fact she mentioned I should study from the back, starting from Chapter 9, Not-for-profit, cause that’s the most difficult one and many questions from it.

But she passed FAR in 2010, which is before IFRS.

So, any opinion on skipping chapter 1 and focusing on chapter 9?

    Thanks a lot!

Just because she didn't get any questions on one topic, doesn't mean that you won't get questions on that topic. Personally I would rather study whatever is hardest towards the end so it's fresh in my mind.

    BEC - 5/20/11 83
    REG - 11/20/11 83
    FAR - 2/26/12 82
    AUD - 7/26 86
    Ethics 12/27/12 90

For me my exam was aaalllll theory maybe 2 calculations per testlet! I passed aug 2011 and while taking the test I was so upset cause I wish I would have focus more theory. Don't skip anything because you never know with these exams. I too use Becker.

    FAR 76
    REG 76(2x)
    BEC FAILED (2x)
    AUD FAILED (2x)

I've taken FAR twice and you can never tell what you're going to be tested on. Last time I had mostly calculations (Nov) and I did have some questions from Chpt 1 using Becker. You need to study all the chapters.

    Good luck!

Thank you for the input. I had the feeling that I need to study all, therefore I asked 🙂

    Thanks again 🙂

Oh I'm waaaay behind… please kindly advise ;(

My test is less than 2 weeks now and my score is expiring end of this month.

I'm trying to get this thing, but for the last 2-3 weeks I just finished 4 chapters. And there're 6 more chapters to go for the MCQs. (And I only am working part time less than 10 hours a week).

I don't know if I'll have time to redo the MCQs again. And I haven't even touch the simulations that should be included in my schedule.

Could anyone tell me how to do 1-1.5″ max each question? It took me 5-10 minutes to get these concepts and to write notes for my mistakes.

What's wrong with me? Am I retarded or what? But I passed the other 3 sections and this is my last one. I don't get these intense calculations. REG is more straightforward than these 5-7 lines of information.

Please let me know if anyone have some tips to answer each question in 1.5 minute max.

    Thank you so much.

I wouldn't stress yourself out about the time spent. Each one will take you a different amount of time, and the actual test questions will not be as long as your review ones. You do need to know when to move on though, if a question is taking you a while you have to make your best guess and learn from the answer – come to terms with the fact you don't have something down if it takes you that long. This is also crucial on your exam as guessing at a MC gives you a 25% chance and leaves time open for Sims if you need them. There's nothing worse than working a question over and over again and still not getting an option to an answer.

Thank you so much for the tips, HustlinHustlin. I really need to move on. I can't focus most of the time if getting too much info for some reason; and that's really2 bad.
