Skim Sims in FAR and focus on Problems and Journal Entries?

I am pressed for time. I am completing my second review of FAR. I want to skim the SIMS, complete all Practice Questions again and focus on Journal Entries, and create Excel Notes and Flashcards for final review week.

What are your thoughts of this strategy?

    Thanks

I was pressed for time on FAR. I focused on the following areas: nonmonetary exchanges, government and not for profit, business combinations, pensions, bonds, and leases. I did not practice any simulations and only got through a small portion of multiple choice, but I was able to pass. I'm not sure what you mean by completing your second review, but if you have already covered all of the material, and multiple choice, I think practicing SIMS could be beneficial. They are 40% of your score. Also notes and flash cards are great ways to review when you are approaching your exam. Good Luck!

My $.02 – learn all of the JEs (including Gov & NFP) so that you're very comfortable with them. This is the backbone and will help you a ton. In addition, consider investing in Ninja MCQs and hammer those. SIMs on test date will likely be tough but from my experience, the SIMs I used for practice didn't help much with preparation so in retrospective I wouldn't do them at all. So my suggestion is 1) master JEs and 2) Ninja MCQs like there's no tomorrow.

    Thank you for your input.

I will not completely skip all SIMs. I will practice some here and there on weak topics. This is my second time around reading and completing practice questions.

I thought skimming the SIMs would be wise to save time because I have completed them once already. I am creating flashcards on Quizlet to retain what I am reading. Which is taking me more time because I am copy and paste and put notes in my own words here and there on Quizlet.

I really want the Ninja MCQs. I do not have the cash right now to get it….. I want to get them for final review week in April.

Personally I don't believe CPAExcel's sims helped me much. I did all of them a couple times over. On the actual exam I was only certain on 2 sims and the rest were a tossup. I believe the MCs helped carry me. I mainly focused on the MCs and Journal Entries.

    BEC: ☑ x1 attempt(s)
    REG: ☑ x2 ''
    AUD: ☑ x1 ''
    FAR: ☑ x2 ''

    Done!

I never practiced a single SIM.

Members on here are going to tell you different, but I firmly believe sims are a waste of time.

I passed all four exams without practicing any sims. While I'm sure they certainly help in learning the concepts, they simply take too long to practice.

Do a million MCQ, write down what you get wrong, re-study those, repeat.

Thank you everyone for your inputs. I will try to get Ninja MCQ. Practice some Sims and focus in understanding the underlying concepts of as many topic via multiple questions.

Thanks so much!!!!!!! your advice has helped me 🙂
