So I know this has been talked about before but i want everyone’s opinion. Do you practice sims at all? I believe I heard Jeff say that there is no way to practice for SIMS but just doing more multiple choice questions. I have probably done over 3000 MCQ’s between gleim and wiley test banks. I feel adequately prepared for my test on the 13th but I hope i don’t freeze at the first sight of a SIM on the test. This is my first test so i don’t know what exactly to expect. Just curious what everyone else’s opinions are.

    Thanks

    FAR 62, 66, 78
    AUD 66, 55, 74, 72
    BEC 79
    REG

I did a few SIMS just to get an idea but got discouraged with the way Wiley TB grades them so I just concentrated on MCQ and learning the material. If you know your stuff for FAR and REG VERY well, then you should be fine.

Now, as far as AUD, I think I'll spend more time on SIMS this time because of all the horror stories I read on this forum. And because I have hard time figuring out the evidence topic.

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)
    BEC: 81 (July 2013)
    REG: 83 (August 2013)
    AUD: 82 (November 2013)
    California CPA since 1/30/14

My best advice for the SIMS is to stay calm!! I freaked out at the sight of my sims when I took FAR my first time as my first exam and thats 100% why I failed. The second time around I took the sims in my Becker material more seriously and redid all of the research questions in my review to make sure I would nail it and pretty sure I did the 2nd time. So id go through your sims and, if you are taking FAR, write out every journal entry you stumble on in your review materials, its a big help. Best of luck!

    FAR 66 (07/01/13), 75! (10/01/13)
    AUD 64 (08/12/13), 80! (11/23/13)
    BEC 84! (05/22/14)
    REG 77! (08/28/14)
    DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is actually a personal preference. I practice sims just so that I get the hang of the functions like the drop down selections, filling in the blanks when making journal entries, how to use AL for the research or an audit report word for word etc.

Also you should utilize the AICPA sample tests.
