Simulation Blank Spaces for Journal Entries

I had a question regarding entering the journal entries in the simulations on the exam. When entering a debit entry into my review software’s practice simulations, I needed to enter a “0” in the credit column or it would mark that column wrong. I was wondering in the actual exam (when entering a debit entry) if you put a “0” instead of leaving a blank, it will give you the same credit as if you left it blank. In the actual exam, I entered the “0’s” instead of leaving it blank. I’ve been stressing over whether the software would mark it wrong. But I’m sure the software the test uses is better than my review software.

Does anyone have any idea about entering “0’s” and just leaving it blank in the simulations?

Couldntpassagain – I doubt anyone knows the real answer to your question except the AICPA. My thoughts on this subject is that I did not do this on my exam and can't recall my Becker software requiring a 0 in the credit column to make the debit entry correct. At this point, the exam is over with, it is not worth stressing over something you cannot change otherwise you are going to drive yourself crazy. You need to channel the stress energy into something productive like studying for the next section or into some type of stress relief exercise. Good Luck on your Score!!

I assume you're talking about an AUD or FAR exam and since I haven't taken either yet, I wouldn't know 100%. HOWEVER, reflecting back on my REG exam in April, for some reason I'm thinking that the directions did say to enter 0 if there was no value for the cell. Because I distinctly remember double checking the directions and I know that I had put 0's in some of the boxes.

Nonetheless, even if someone did forget to put 0's in, I feel like the software would count a blank cell/0 to be the same. While the CPA exam is tricky in most respects, I do not think that the examiners would trick candidates with this- it would just be too cruel and sort of silly since it wouldn't really prove much.
