Hey All,

I just took a Becker Final practice exam… For one of my sims, it was journal entries. I entered all my debits and credits exactly correctly, but it marked me off because I didn’t put zero’s in the column I wasn’t using.

For instance, let’s say I needed to debit Cash. I put the number in the debit column and left the credit colum blank. Should I have put a zero there? Are sims on the actual CPA exam graded by a stupid computer too?

Thanks!! (Exam the day after tomorrow.. freaking out!!)

Don't worry about this, I can't imagine you will get marked off on the exam for this unless the question specifically tells you to “Put a 0 for blank cells.”

You'll find that Becker will mark you wrong for putting 44.4% instead of .444, or other crap like that.

SIMS are initially reviewed by a computer. If after the computer grading you are close enough that “errors” like this could possibly make the difference between pass or fail, your exam will be manually graded to make sure you're not failing because of 44.4% vs 0.444, etc.

I took FAR today and in one of the sims if said in the instructions to put 0's in blank cells
