So I was wondering how picky the Sims grading is supposed to be? I have taken some of these exams multiple times and while I always feel alright about MCQ, the sims usually kill me. This last FAR attempt was no different. So here are some of my concerns:
(1) when completing a table it may require both debits/credits but the instructions may not specify if parenthesis or negatives should be used. Its a personal preference for me to include them, however upon completing a practice sim I have found I am getting it completely wrong because I used negatives in the table even though the numbers are correct?
(2) Journal entries – I have practiced various journal entry sims within NINJA and while I am getting the numbers and accounts right, I continuously see my scores getting dinged for not having entries listed in the correct order.
Am I seriously going to continue to fail the CPA because I don’t have my presentation completely 100% to the point? I mean if I can demonstrate that I understand the topic and complete the task with the same intended outcome why lose points over this presentation business? I have been working in public accounting for over 3 years and these presentation matters have not crippled my career (yet). I want to get people’s thoughts on this.
