AnonymousInactiveYou're clearly capable of passing as you've already passed 3. Probably time to revamp your study method though. How has your study method evolved since you began?

mla1169ParticipantKricket I'm sure youll ask if you want advice on study methods 🙂 I'm not convinced sharing your results qualifies as a request.

AnonymousInactiveJust trying to be helpful… It's stupid to be on this site and not be open to suggestions for passing the exam especially after it's clear you've put so much effort in
August 6, 2012 at 3:28 am #359252
AnonymousInactiveWhoa! WTH! If someone reads that comment wrong, it sounds like I'm being called “stupid” and “not open to suggestions”. That couldn't be farther from the truth and this is no place for name-calling. I have a plan. I intend to stick to it. I don't have my score report back. I don't know where I was weak, so no point in changing the plan at this point. I need more information before I make any decisions regarding a study plan. I simply pointed out earlier that I have in fact passed all four exams. I have extreme test anxiety and there isn't much that someone who isn't a licensed physician can do to help me. I do appreciate the offer for help and I apologize if I sounded snarky in my earlier post. I'm trying to focus on BEC right now. No one needs any drama, especially over me.

mla1169ParticipantKricket i think those remarks were directed at my observation that the advice was unsolicited. I decided its not even worth responding to.

AnonymousInactiveOh dear. @kricket You have my respect and that of many others on the forum.
You and others have shared ideas and it has kept me sane when there was nowhere else to go. I'm so grateful for this community and the voice of people like yourself.

AnonymousInactiveAnd, if you seriously do have such bad text anxiety, you should talk with your doctor about being prescribed a benzo. That's assuming you haven't already done so. I apologize if you have. There is NOTHING detrimental about taking it just for when you take a CPA test. Granted, you probably shouldn't take it more as they are addictive if taken over a period longer than a month. This is coming from someone who has suffered from acute panic attacks before.
A more sustainable practice is starting meditation. It will take quite a bit of practice though to be able to be transitioned to other scenarios like a test environment. But, meditation is definitely the best tool to combat (or more appropriately, live with anxiety).

AnonymousInactiveOh! Sorry, since mla1169 is already licensed I just assumed it was directed at me. My bad! Sorry for the confusion. But it's over and done. Not another word about that.
I have talked to my Dr. and I do have a prescription for a benzo. I don't take it before exams because it makes me sleepy and it clouds my head, not to mention I have to drive 2 hours to the testing center and 2 hours back. I don't drive when I take them and I only take 1/2 at a time on rare occasions. The thing is, I know the information on these tests, I just get freaked out before the tests. Once, it got so bad my blood pressure was at stroke level 24 hours AFTER the exam. That's when my doctor stepped in and said enough is enough.
I'll get through this. It just takes time, patience and practice. Which means I'm off of here and back on Mr. Wiley's Wild Ride until it's time to go to work!

Mom2twoMemberHey Kricket! Sorry to hear about your score. You are one of the strongest people I “know”…virtually. 🙂 I am sure by this age you know yourself better than most but I wanted to toss out a couple of things I have used that work for me. I have been diagnosed with anxiety after a few years of ongoing testing due to various symptoms and now I work closely with my doctor to keep my symptoms in check. Yoga and meditation made a huge difference in my life. I tried Benzo for my stomach problems and it made me sleepy as well. Ginger drops (gin gins – the hard candy, not the chews) are a great remedy for most stomach issues. Maybe try that on your way to testing center. Also there is a great meditation practice for anxiety…it's called Isha Kriya. If you Google it the website will come up which has a pdf of the practice to walk you through it. You can also stream it and try it a few times guided until you get the hang of it. It could really help to try that practice, recite it and breathe work on the way to the testing center to calm the anxiety. Anyways, I wanted to offer a few things that have worked for me in hopes it might help you as well. Finally if you feel like you need more help, maybe discuss the pharmaceutical route with your doctor. There are short term remedies like Lorazapem that could help on testing days. Good luck and keep the faith. You will totally get this…I have a feeling 2012 is our year! 🙂
